I teach GED and life skills to felons transitioning back to the community after incarceration. Before this I taught English as a second language to refugees and impoverished immigrants. ESL is my calling in life.
I am an athletic trainer. 50% of my time is spent in the rehab clinic and 50% is at a local high school providing sports med coverage for athletes. I would love to be a SAHM if the opportunity ever presented itself, especially since my hours are different every week depending on the sports schedule.
Follow-up question to the topic: Has anyone changed careers or significantly altered their work schedule after baby? More specifically, did you plan on going back to your current job after maternity leave but change your mind once your LO arrived? I have been thinking a lot about different options but don't think I'll know what will work best for my family until after we actually bring a baby home.

I have died every day waiting for you. Darling, don't be afraid, I have loved you for a thousand years. And all along I believed I would find you, time has brought your heart to me. I have loved you for a thousand years. I'll love you a thousand more.
I used to work administration in several government offices but I was really unhappy & left a year ago. I followed my heart & passion and did a 6 month internship at a nonprofit that did international orphan care & adoption grants. I loved it but I haven't found a full time position since then. Now I volunteer 2 days a week, rocking babies in the NICU and working in another orphan care agency.
Office admin/ Customer Service Rep/ Agent. I'll be leaving this position in 5 months to be a SAHW, hopefully SAHM shortly thereafter. In that time, I'm planning on going back to school for Occupational Therapy.
I have two jobs - three days a week I work at with toddlers at a childcare center. Four evenings a week I work at a transitional living home for 18-19 year olds who have aged out of foster care.
Licensed Social Worker. Currently work for a home health agency. Before that, I interned leukemia and lymphoma society, and a veterans affairs hospital (inpatient drug and alcohol). I"d love to get back into the hospital or doctors office. But for now, I love the flexibility of making my own schedual and working from home if I want.

Afternoon ladies! I co-own a Pool Construction company. I love it most days and shorter Winter hours is pretty great. I'd love to say I will continue working the way I do now but its not realistic with the hours I keep. We are seasonal, but in the summer I work 80+ hours a week and with a baby that just wont happen. I'm a work-a-holic so it will take some getting used to but if it means a baby at home its totally worth it.
@MonkeyJD the volunteer work that you do is incredible.
Behavior analyst. I own a company that works with individuals with autism and dev. Disorders. Planning on WAHM once we get KU. I will do all the business stuff and have my employees do the therapy part. I hope it works out!

We have 2 dogs and spend as much time outside as possible.
I'm an Afterschool teacher through a state granted program. I HAVE to be at the school between 3:00-5:15 M-F but the other hours I get to work at my office, at home, or at the school. It's pretty nice!
I'm a Dental Hygienist. Just started back full time after 2 years of working 2 days a week. If I ever get KU again, I plan on staying home for about 9 months so I'm working hard for the money now
Current ER nurse, soon to be full time student/SAHW hopefully SAHM in the next year or so. I love nursing but I need to focus on finishing my bachelors and when the time comes, focus on raising my kids. We're fortunate to be able to live comfortably on H salary alone and are going to take advantage of that since its important to us both our kids have their mom home with them for the first few years
Good morning! (Er, afternoon now) I'm an archaeologist and do permitting and planning for an environmental consulting firm. Absolutely no clue what I'll do if I end up with a kid...probably have to stay home for a year or so.

I am a part time special education teacher at a local school district. I will most likely be a SAHM next year as the cost of day care for 2 would be more than my part time pay check.
