What do you want for Christmas?

Re: What do you want for Christmas?

  • I've got some smartwool socks, but I feel bad asking people to spend that much on a pair of socks.  (And they have some cute pictures and stripes and things, but I also really like the random holiday socks with little pictures that are five bucks for two pair at Target throughout the year.  I just forget to go get them myself so I ask for them from other people.)

  • I know people think it's rude to ask for giftcards, because it's like asking for money, but I would love giftcards to stores where I buy my make-up and body stuff (Sephora and The Body Shop). My make-up and face routine is kind of pricey, but I have terrible skin (at nearly 28 I still have acne regularly). So I would love giftcards to be able to maintain my routine when I'm on maternity leave and our income is reduced. That way I can still make myself look my best and not feel guilty about buying $20 face wash and $35 setting powder. And also, I won't have to ask people to actually spend a certain amount for the products I use, they could get me 1/2 the cost or whatever they wanted to spend on a giftcard and I would be thrilled!

Other than that, I can't think of anything I need or want that are "things". We have plenty, and I really love giving gifts more than getting them. I love to make gifts for people (I crochet) so planning the colours and making it for them, and then giving it to them is the exciting part of Christmas for me!

  • The only thing in the world that I need right now is a new motorcycle helmet.  I lost the face shield on mine over a year ago and it reeeeeaaaaalllllyyyy sucks riding in cold weather or rain.  I've made do with goggles that fit over the helmet, but my nose still gets cold.

    Yup. Very true.

But I still am hoping for a roomba from DH to help manage the pet hair in our house (so tired of vacuuming daily... sometimes twice a day). I am thinking of buying an iPad for DH, but he is so practical that he would rather have clothes.

A husband that would want clothes more than a new iPad? I would never thought that actually existed ...

  • @RachelCA29 He never buys anything for himself! He would rather save than spend. Which is good, but a person also needs to spend occasionally on things beyond necessity.

  • I want my food aversions to go away... maybe breakfast in bed...

On a serious note, I want a pair of cowboy boots and some cool accessories like purses. Oh, anda new Dyson animal (mine I the old bulky one, which my sister used when she was living with us and I canno t get the wet dog smell out of. Gross.)
  • A day of pampering sounds sublime.

I've been itching to get my hands on the new Kindle Fire HDX, but that may be over budget. Fx for good deals during the Christmas season.

In reality, gift cards. Amazon, Vera Bradley, Amazon, Kohls, Michaels, Hancock, etc.

  • Ha i also am sooo sickening dog hair! Gaaaah!!!!!
  • I want to find out what I'm having
  • My husband keeps asking this. I just don't have an answer....I'm spoiled as is, and last Christmas was huge, and since I am going to be huge my go to of new clothes is out.

  • I just want Christmas to go smoothly this year.  I started hosting a couple years ago and last year kinda sucked, so I am hoping for the best this year.

Present wise - some new slipper socks and some pandora charms.  My mommy already bought me a kitchenaid so I am happy :)

Omg I'd love a new pair of boots!! But after my man bought me a pair I fell in love with I sadly had to send them back. I have really muscular calves and couldn't get my leg in!! ((Dreaming of boots))

  • I'd just love baby stuff. I'm really hoping my in-laws but us the stroller. MIL is a TERRIBLE gift giver (she gave my hubby tea towels one year!?) ...so I've been hinting.

Other than that, I really really need a new purse. I buy crap ones from Target and use them until they're basically in shreds. This current one has had gum stuck somewhere in side of it for about two months. I have to unstick some things, every time I pull them out. Gross!

  • I want a backpack diaper bag (trying to choose between Lassig and Okkatots), Bellybra maternity tanks, and an immersion blender.

I have an okkatots one and it's great. When my zipper broke they sent me a brand new one, no questions asked and I didn't have to return the old! It's awesome for travel

  • I would love to have a real Christmas tree. This is the first year I have my own home and get to decorate my own tree. I'm beyond excited!

Funny this came up H just asked me yesterday what I wanted (more so his mother asked him what I wanted) I told him baby stuff from on my registry and he said "Christmas is for you, not the baby, your baby shower is for the baby" I understand what he means but I really don't NEED anything so I said a Target gift card (where I did my registry) is perfect...I'll end up spending it on baby stuff that I didnt get for my shower or maternity haha.

I have the opposite mentality. I know this is going to be "my" last Christmas. From now on it's all about the baby. Which is how it should be IMO. I want little things like a new perfume that I saw at costco for way cheaper than it is in stores. I would also like a real camera that I can take pictures of the baby with. I love photography and have always wanted to explore that but never had the reason to do it. I also played around with some photo editing software and really liked it. I would like to have a copy of that software. You can never go wrong with lulu lemon. Love their jackets.

  • I don't like clothes and just wear jeans or yoga pants and tee shirts. I never wear jewelry other than my wedding ring. I am a pain in the ass to buy for. I have everything I could possibly want. (I know, *gag* how sweet.) I mostly just love food. I think I'll hope for an edible arrangement or gourmet cupcakes or something. My husband rocks at presents though. Since meeting him, I've gotten a laptop, PS3, a bow and arrows, a Nook tablet, and an electric violin. Since I don't recall asking for any of those, I'm always excited to see what he' going to surprise me with.

I took the classes earlier this year, they were so much fun! There is a huge tool kit you can get, it has most of what you'll need for courses 1-3 (except icing), it's $200 but if you go to Michael's or AC Moore you can use a 40% coupon for it. Also sometimes it's on sale 50% off, you just can't use the coupon on top of that.

It’s not that I don’t like you, it’s that I don’t know you. Stranger Danger.
  • Otherwise I have no idea what I want! I got an iPod for my birthday to replace my 6yo one that crapped out. I have a nook that still works fine so I can't justify a tablet yet (I'll get one if/when my nook craps out). I have a laptop that works just fine. DH bought me a new camera last year to replace the one I lost. I'll probably end up asking for some gift cards to stores like Barnes & Noble, Loft, Coach, maybe Sephora (been wanting to check them out, I just never go in). I need to get out to a mall so I can start looking around to find some ideas!

  • I want to go and see my parents for Christmas or them to come here (it'll be a year in January since I last saw them!)
I also would like a new computer! Lol
  • I usually just want everyday stuff such as hairspray, face wash, perfumes, makeup, etc. stuff I use throughout the year but hate spending money on.

If I were to say anything bigger it would be money or help for nursery items.

@CopperPoppy, I love that you said this because I feel the exact way. I feel this is the last year for me. I already started buying baby stuff, but I want some stuff for me this Christmas. Like you, I also want a decent camera because I love photography as well. I want to have an awesome one to take pictures of the LO when they are born. I still have to look into them though!

I have it but got it on clearance and all of the tips were missing. Oh well it was only 35 and everything else is in there

  • A Silhouette Cameo or maybe a serger. I haven't really thought about it.
I am hoping though that since we won't open the card with the baby's gender till Christmas morning that I will actually get presents for me and not a ton of stuff for baby. Since its the first grandbaby on both sides there isn't much chance of that actually happening though lol.

I don't understand. I have a 2.5 year old and MH and I still get each other Christmas presents. How are those things mutually exclusive?

At least the tips are pretty inexpensive! You'll use a lot of the disposable plastic piping bags, and I picked up a couple of the good re-usable ones as well. We didn't use a ton of the wax paper, I think there was enough in the kit to cover what we used. I'd suggest picking up more couplers, you will easily use at least 3-4 in one class, sometimes more if you're doing both different consistencies and different colors of icing in one class. I forget which weeks, but we had some where we needed several different bags of icing ready. Our instructor was pretty good about telling us which tips we'd need more than one of, mostly for making class go quicker so we didn't have to constantly clean tips during class.

Maybe it's just me and possibly the fact the our due dates are so long after Christmas but I don't understand buying stuff for the baby for Christmas. Those would be presents for the would be parents not the baby. Not happening here thanks.

My mom has already said she plans on baby shopping for Christmas. We're also opening the gender results Christmas morning so I have no idea what she thinks she's going to be able to get. I've started a registry on BRU only for the gift card offer they have going on, I have white onesies and white socks on it so far and that's it. We do a Secret Santa with the adults on my side of the family so there's a chance my Mom or Dad won't have my name in the draw.

they aren't completely. MH i think is sometimes looking for any reason to stop doing gifts for each other because he says i'm hard to buy for. But i was referring more to like other family members. its sorta the rule that once you have kids in my family, you aren't the "kid" anymore and dont really get gifts. I've just been spoiled. :)

  • Also, a Roomba or something else like it. Because I'm lazy.
We had a Roomba (battery died and crazy expensive to replace) and last year got a Neato - it might have said something about being especially for pet households (we have cats) and LOVE it - way better than the Roomba.  It actually scans the room and does it in an organized way instead of random and it's easier to clean out and also I think a bit easier to contain in the area you want it to clean (and to keep it away from things hazardous).  So maybe drop Santa some hints about looking into the Neato brand of roomba-like thing? :)

  • I'm looking forward to one last year (or maybe next-to-last year?  Would a 7 or 8 month old really notice?) of not exchanging any gifts!  I'm a grinch.  Well not really.  But there are currently no children in my family and we all have housefuls of way too much crap and the whole gift thing was just stressful and it was such a relief when we all finally declared "no more!" a few years back!
