As many of you know, I was diagnosed with kidney stones last Thursday.
Today, I had a detailed ultrasound of my kidneys. I have multiple stones in both sides and one on the left is so large that it likely won't be able to pass. Fortunately, it doesn't look like that one is moving yet, but it's a ticking time bomb. On my right side -- in addition to the stones -- urine is backing up into the kidney (hydronephrosis) and no urine is dumping from my right kidney into the bladder at all (at least not while she was watching it for about 10 minutes. Meanwhile, the left side dumped 5-6 times a minute.) I'm waiting to hear from my OB about what's up next.
Awesome.
Oh yeah, and I failed my 1 hr GTT by one point. I wish I had done it earlier because I hadn't eaten much for several days before hand (due to kidney stone pain), and I think if I had had a normal diet, I wouldn't have failed. So now I have to do the 3 hr. I wouldn't have posted about that by itself, it just adds to my shitty day.

I feel so bad for everyone with kidney stones. After what my co-worker has gone through, I understand more, and really, they should be banned. Especially for pregnant women.
Good luck, hopefully they can figure out something to make you more comfortable!

And good luck with the 3hr GTT. It sucks I'm not gonna lie, but with only failing by one point you should pas the 3 hr with flying colors. I agree with you though you may have passed the 1 hr if it weren't for the kidney stones changing things. Hope you get that one over soon and have one less thing to worry about.

Also, sorry about the 3 hour. That shit sucks. If you can take your DH with, then do it... it made me feel AWFUL and I could barely walk after, let alone drive anywhere. So glad DH was with me when I took it. He also helped to keep me occupied. (But this was with DS1 in 2008, so before the world on iPads, smartphones and kindle's too!)

Double suck on the 3hr GTT. That just blows. I had to do the 3hr last time I was pregnant and I hated it. I read through an entire book during the waiting, but it made me feel pretty gross. Do it on a day where you can go home and just veg afterward, for sure. I also really like @mrsjenni's suggestion of taking YH.
I hope you get some answers from your OB soon. I'm thinking about you!

I'm just hoping the one really large one stays put through the pregnancy and doesn't decide to try to pass. The rest of them are small enough to pass without any intervention, it seems. My doctor has decided that for now, we're going to do a "wait and see" course. She tends to be more conservative for treatment of issues, which is how I am too, so I was expecting this.

I'm sorry things are so miserable for you right now!
So sorry to hear you're going through this!! I have a family history of bladder and kidney problems, so I know how hard and extremely painful it can be.
Hope you start to feel better soon!
Have you researched what they are caused by!? My sister stopped getting them as soon as we moved to NYC and her doctors told her that it might have been because of the much improved quality of water. Apparently our previous city water contained a lot of minerals and although we boiled it before using, it was still something that caused the stones.
Ugh. Multiple kidney stones? Seriously? What a time for that, ugh. I'm sorry to hear that you are dealing with this and hope things go as smoothly as possible (i.e. the bigger one stays put till after your baby boy comes and the rest go quick).
