Every time I have to shave.

Groom body parts that you can no longer see to gain some semblance of your former self. By the way all of your hair will grow 4x as fast. Shave or be hairy, make your choice.

Re: Every time I have to shave.

  • LOL, well played. Luckily I can still shave my legs, as for my girly parts, those have been abandoned, hence the waxing next Friday.

  • Two weeks post delivery and I'm still growing hair like a beast. I was hoping it would slow down by now! When are these raging hormones going to settle down already?
  • Yup, bought a mirror for the shower a few weeks ago.

  • I can still manage my legs well enough, but I go blind on my lady parts.  I just go off of feel and hope for the best.  DH understands, I think, and hasn't complained so far.  And if he does, I'll just hit him.   Lol!!

  • I've always shaved blind on my bikini area. The legs I just do in the bath... I did get a comment from my midwife when she was doing a cervical check on me about how bare I was down there. That was a little awkward.

  • @Kvochka-if you're pumping I'm pretty sure it doesn't really get better until after you stop BFing..then a month or 2 later all the hair on your head falls out! It's fun...

  • I had DH help me last time and ended up bleeding. Now I just don't care. I try to keep things tame with a trimmer. And will get waxed at like 36 weeks. Legs only get shaved before dr appts lol

  • Is it bad that shaving isn't even on my radar anymore?

  • Is it bad that shaving isn't even on my radar anymore?
Nope, I felt my legs and thought "Ugh didn't I just do this a week ago?!?" What have I become..
I just shaved my legs for the first time in  God knows how long... lady parts I do blind every couple showers.. I don't care! I'm mildly embarrassed when I go for regular u/s and the tech tucks the towel into my underwear... im afraid she's going to get stuck with whiskers. haha

  • I guess I'm lucky cos I can still push my tummy out if the way/suck it in to see. I usually wax myself
, but have given that up. I shaved my bikini line the other day, the pregnancy ingrowns were out of control! So not worth it.
  • I shaved for the first time in 2 weeks yesterday, one good thing about the third tri being in winter is not a lot of dresses and shorts :)
I told DH yesterday that he is seriously going to do any "clean up" prior to going into labor.

  • @ac1259 wow! Did not know that! I was actually going to start laser removal treatments in January but
I guess I should wait now until summer time, when hormones calm down. Yuck to hair everywhere though! Seriously! I'm an ape!
  • @Kvochka- everyone is different, I thought I got past the hair on my head falling out point but 2 months after I stopped pumping I started shedding like crazy! It was awful!

  • Since my bump got bigger, I gave up grooming.. mirror fogs up, my stomach can't be moved to the side or sucked in, and you could have called me Patches after my stunt with blind grooming. My mindset is..If I can't see it, then it doesn't bother me- if you (SO) have a problem with it, then help a sister out or don't look at it.

Ugh. The ingrown hairs are horrible. I never really had this problem and now I am afraid to shave. I think I'm going to try an electic razor and see if that eliminates (or at least reduces) the ingrown hairs.

  • I get sooo out of breath when I shave that I reserve this event for Sunday.  Of course my shower takes a lot longer because I have to become a contortionist to make sure I don't miss a spot. The good thing is that my SO has been traveling for work so there's no need to keep up appearances. :P  Seriously, I just don't have the energy.

  • I can shave my legs in the bath but my bikini area is probably a mess. I just cross my fingers and pray I don't slice anything of importance. And whoever mentioned No-Shave November- I'm all for it!

  • Seriously considering No Shave November since I have yet to break down and ask DH for help with the lady bits. I have dubbed myself  Edward Scissorhands whenever DH asks what happened.

  • I get so exhausted from trying. The last time I tried to get my lady parts I had to do it in stages. First, I tried at night to get it and got to tired. The next day I tried in the shower sitting in the tub with one leg kinda Indian style while the other was as far back as it could go. 3 hours later I felt up for round three and I just went blind. I look like a cheetah down there or at least I think I do. I told DH if it isn't good enough he can do it. He laughed/ I didn't!

  • We have a large stand up shower with two small bench type things in the corner which is making shaving my legs nice and easy. I did buy en electric razor to shave my bikini area and it's been a life saver! I can't see at all down there but with the electric razor I can just use it blindly and I'm not risking getting cut by a regular razor.

  • I'm getting what I can and calling it good. DH has offered to help but honestly I'd rather shave with broken glass than let him try! And he's never cared if my legs are shaved so whatev. No shave November is on!

  • I started waxing right after I learned I was pregnant. I am so incredibly sensitive that my lady parts can't see a razor without getting razor burn. Before getting preggo, I used a depilatory cream which is a no-no in the first tri. And thank god I did, I saw my girl the other day and said my nether regions are under her control. Shaving my legs with the Belly is exhausting and basically cardio. The top of my thighs resemble Chewbacca and I am completely fine with that!

I feel and shave at this point. I hate having lots of hair down yonder. My skin is so sensitive during pregnancy, so I get red bumps all over when I shave and bleed. I had to put the little round band aids on bc of the bleeding the last time

  • I can still sort of maneuver around the bump, but most of the undercarriage gets done blindly. I'm way too scared to let DH try. I see what he does to his face...

I also get tired trying to do it, I think because I hold my breath without realizing it to keep my belly in one spot! Haha. I hope I don't pass out shaving my bits one day...ugh I'd hate explaining that to an EMT.

Re: people with ingrown problems...I use a "shave gel" called Coochy from one of those sex toy party brands. It's changed my life. I never have bumps or ingrowns even in the summer, anymore. (That was always the worst for me I think from spending basically the whole weekend in a chafe-inducing bathing suit.)

  • @ac1259 and @Kvochka - Hair started coming out of my head almost exactly 3 months after my kids were born- all 3, oddly enough! And it came out in clumps! On the other hand, I didn't really ever shed much while pregnant. Also, it was like overnight. Crazy! (no, the craziness does NOT stop after the baby is born- it keeps going and going and going....) Oh, yes, I was in the middle of BF them when I started shedding.

  • One of the only upsides of being single and pregnant... don't really have to worry about that unless I feel like it... I have abandoned pretty much everything but the bikini line. Legs I am still having no trouble reaching but it takes some acrobatics when I do attempt to clean up the swim suit parts.
  • For those of you who have started using an electric razor - what brand do you recommend?
  • I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels this way! I spent way too long cleaning up my lady parts yesterday and am vowing not to let it get that bad again before I deliver. I bought one of the Schick razors with the bikini trimmer on the other end and it was a lifesaver. I was able to trim everything safely while going blind (the mirror was way too foggy to use) with the guard on the trimmer and used the razor to clean up. Thank God my husband really doesn't care if I'm hairy or not! Good luck ladies!
