Speaking of names . . .

If our baby is a girl, we want to name her Makenna, because it's pretty, but also because my name is Michaela and my dad is Michael, and DH and his deceased father are both Ken (all our kids' first and middle names are/will be related to family names). Anyway, I know Makenna is the traditional spelling and I was dead set on using that spelling, but then I saw MIL spell it wrong on facebook. She spelled it  Mikena, more like the spelling of our names. At first I hated it, but now I'm wondering if I should use it, although I think I would add an extra n and do Mikenna. Is that horrible? Has anyone ever seen Makenna spelled differently?

    Ha, well so did I with Michaela. It was not common then. But most things are special order now aren't they? All the stuff I have with Robert's name are things from personalizationmall.com, etsy, or places like that where you just type in a name.

    The only think I think you will run into is pronunciation. I pronounce Makenna mEHkenna. In my head I pronounce Mikenna mYkenna.

    I didn't think of the pronounciation. That would definitely annoy me, so I guess I will stick with Makenna.

    No. You can go into any store and find personalized stuff. Esp now with the ornaments. I still look. There's no Lilahs. Just lily.

    I don't like it; but it also depends on how you want people to think its pronounced.  Do you want MAH-kenna or MY-Kenna.
