This may be a dumb question but as this is my first pregnancy, I figure it can't hurt to ask.
Over the past week, I have gotten VERY uncomfortable. Last night, I barely slept because there was no comfortable position, even with the pregnancy pillow. My upper-inner thighs (right around my crotch) constantly feel like I just ran a marathon- SUPER sore.
I know it's only going to get worse but are all of these things normal for 20 weeks?
Also, while I'm asking questions, when during your pregnancy did you stop working? I am an inner-city teacher and am on my feet all day. I'm wondering when would be a good time to stop, if any.
Sorry if either of these are repeat questions and that this may seem like a post and run- I'm in and out of parent-teacher conferences today! TIA!
Re: Tell me this is normal...
I don't think I was comfortable sleeping around 20 weeks, but I wouldn't say I was super uncomfortable either, does that make sense?
I remember being really uncomfortable later on in the pregnancy around late 20-30 weeks where I had a hard time sleeping and falling alseep...
As far as working I was put off work at 27 weeks (I think) because of my cervical lenght and I was working at a desk all day...I was then put on official bedrest from 30-34 weeks and the boys and delivered at 37 weeks 3 days...
My OB probably would of let me work if my cervical lenght wouldn't of shortened, but I'm not sure for how much longer, I think they have a policy around late 20 weeks to early 30 weeks that they might put you off, you could always ask your OB he might have a set policy or will just go by how you're doing.
It's getting more and more uncomfortable to sleep, even though it's all I want to do these days. If I lie on my back or right side my tummy/lower back hurt, so the left side is all I can do, but I get really antsy when I lie in the same position for a long time.
My friend told me the best thing you can do is get one of those satin sheets, to lay on your regular sheets, and then put on satin pajamas. The lack of friction makes it really easy to move around, especially when your belly starts getting really big and its harder to flip yourself over.
I started having trouble sleeping at around 20 weeks too. Unfortunately, it did get worse, but I have also had some spurts where it got better and I was able to sleep really well for no particular reason!
As for work- I am an elementary school music teacher so I know how crazy it is. I'm still working now at 31 weeks and am planning to go through Christmas break, when I will be 34 weeks. I would never recommend this for anyone though- I've been lucky to have relatively few complications and colleagues to help make things a little easier (like 2 ladies who took over all of my recess duties a couple of months ago). I'm only working now because we are overseas and I need to work now to be able to keep my visa for maternity leave. If you can, I would work on a plan to take off sooner.
Hope the conferences went well!
