So many people who hate "Obamacare!!!11" have no idea what it's actually going to do. Including many people who will be helped by it in the long run. People who cry poverty (whether that's true or not, I don't know people's wallets) and then bitching about "Obamacare" get so much side-eye from me.
I have a real one now, I don't blow dry my kids hair. I put her to bed with wet hair. But I figure there isn't tons there and it will dry quickly enough anyways.

I have another FC. I have no idea how many teeth my kid has. She has an aversion to letting anyone look in her mouth and if I stick my fingers in there she bites me. I know for sure she's got her top 4 front teeth and two molars. At least I think they're molars. Then she has some teeth on the bottom. I don't know what teeth. There's a chart in her baby book where you're supposed to mark which order her teeth came in. Yeahhhh I'm pretty sure that other than the first three teeth, it's going to be blank.
@RTaylor12 - same here with the teeth. Any time I try to see or feel his teeth, he will bite the shit out of my finger (which at least tells me that he has some teeth, lol)
Ok so I didn't read all 3678 posts on here. I'm obviously late to flaming flame free Friday confessional here.
I think that even if Cajun used the money to rent some strippers or whatever else her heart desires it doesn't matter. It was a donation. STFU! That's like getting mad at someone for not spending their birthday gift card the way you wanted them. Shuuuuut uuuuup. Team Cajun
Second. All these sweet care packages going around j12...I want in! (Not to receive but when y'all do nice things like cards or donations please let me in on it!) is this a Facebook thing?? Don't forget about little old me just because I don't have a fbook.
Third. Open up another post or pm about aca and insurance. Your debate is making it hard for me to read the drama on FC lol (no offense laides)
Lastly. I'm judging the no shots thing ..that and still the lingering judgement from the car seat ordeal have me side eyeing in a huge way. Get off the bump and take care of your baby! If you truly can't afford then that's one thing but to "forget" is sad. Set a reminder for 6:00 so you don't forget to feed the kid too. I'm Not normally so judgey on here but now I'm all worked up so sorry !
Ps cooper has never had candy either. Not a bite. Maybe tomorrow maybe next week..just now now.
Sorry for paragraph I'm on the iPad

people blow dry kids hair?
My daughter cries and screams if I blowdry my own hair if she's anywhere me. She's terrified of the blowdryer. She goes to bed with wet hair and that won't be changing anytime soon, even with winter right around the corner.

Woof! This was a long, crazy FFC. I don't normally comment on these types of things, but here's my two cents:
#1 - Making assumptions for how someone spent a donation is really not in the spirit of a donation itself. If you opened up your heart and donated to Cajun, that is wonderful, and she has every right to spend in any way needed for her family. @reinedecajun - have a stiff drink and brush this off!!!
mrs.sewell - I'd be happy to help you look into other insurance options or programs for your son. Please send me a message if you want any assistance. I'm thinking there may be a community health center or a Federally Qualified Health Center in your area that you can visit for free of charge. I don't know where you live, but if you send me the info I can look into this for you - in the meantime here are a few links that may be helpful.
#3 - The ACA debate. Yikes - i'll limit my response here. Essentially, the act has an escalating penalty which will be instituted over the course of 3 years. In the 2014 tax year, the penalty will be $95 per adult and $47.50 per child; 2015 tax year $325 per adult and $162.50 per child; 2016 tax year $695 per adult and $347.50 per child. I can see how people could justify the cost of skipping out on year 1, but by year 3, the tax credits are pretty stiff.
I agree there are a lot of glitches in the ACA - especially with the federal website - but the overarching premise of the ACA is the marketplace (and keeping premiums low for all Americans) is contingent on enrolling healthy adults to spread out the risk pool. Once enrollment numbers increase, per-person premiums should naturally decrease.
My public health friends - @mightybee and @thepinksuperhero have already said their piece on this and I agree with their sentiments.
But honestly, the bottom line is that the health system cannot sustain a system where the poorest, sickest individuals use the emergency room as a means of care because they have no other choice or don't know where else to go. Taxpayers end up taking that hit, and it has tremendous effects on the system. Preventative care is critical to reforming the health system - and we cannot do that if people rely on the emergency room for care. Americans already experience worse health outcomes compared to our counterparts in developed countries. The last time I checked, I think we rank about 38th in health outcomes, but #1 in spending.
I'm not arguing that the ACA is perfect, however, it is a 2,000+ page document that includes a ton of measures for preventative health that in the long run can positively impact the health of millions of Americans. Honestly, I think it sucks for those of you who have experienced a raise in health insurance premiums. I truly think that is an unintended effect of the ACA that must be remedied.
Ok - now off to have a glass of wine................
