  • I'm done with MOTN feedings.  DD is just over 6 months, it's time for tough love.  She weighs enough and eats enough during the day to not need to eat at night.  I'm SO over waking up every 3 hours.  Sorry, love...but mama's tired.  Tonight is night one of CIO and I'm excited about it.

@laxminavkar my LO is Charlotte too :) I remember your post a while ago about someone dissing the name and I was going to comment but failed.

I hid two bags of Halloween candy and didn't mention them when we ran out of candy last night. Momma loves her Reese's.

Every time I see you post with your LO's name I have been meaning to say something. We have such good taste in baby names!!!

Eta: good job on the Reese's
    SIGNATURE FAIL!!!!!!!

  • C's first trip is next week and I am purposely flying to Charlotte even though it's easier to fly to Atlanta so that C's first flight ever will be to a city with her name. Better believe I am saving that ticket. Well that was PG of me....

My Charlotte's first flight will be to Charlotte, NC too. :) We are visiting family for thanksgiving and our first flight connects in Charlotte. I hadn't really thought about it until you mentioned it though! I guess I'm pretty dense.

I have a selfish confession. I really want to pump and dump tonight so I can drink a whole bottle of wine. I'm not going to since my supply is so low and I don't want to deprive LO of the little BM she does get, but I want to SO BAD!
I think you should DO IT because you deserve it!  :)

I'm supposed to be working on M napping in her crib as opposed to my arms. I'm in the middle of the No Cry Nap Solution and it's like the book was written just for us. I go back to work a month from tomorrow so she will be in daycare and have to nap in a crib. But when I think about how fast this last month is going to go, I cry, and say fuck the nap training, I'm holding my baby for all naps because that's what she wants and soon enough, I won't be able to. I'm probably setting both of us up for a real hard time but I just don't want to put her down.
If it makes you feel better, I had the same attitude about it and didnt really do any sort of prep before going back to work to get him to nap on his own.

He adjusted really easy to napping alone at Day Care, something about me not being there and the new environment, he went to napping own his own like a champ.
I have heard many times that babies will go to sleep easier for other people, and the few times that my mom has watched LO between feedings she was able to put her down for a nap no problem. I get home and I'm like "what the...?!"

ETA So keep cuddling your baby if you want to!!

  • ^^ @scormier123 - I love your signature pic of your and your LO's Toms. So cute.

@jayro10- I agree with the others about not worrying too much about getting her to sleep in her crib before you go back to work. I was worried about the same thing but didn't end up "training" her before I went back, and my mom is able to get her to nap in her crib. I still can't. Enjoy the snuggles!

I am tempted to do this sometimes.. but to me it is the repercussions of being hung over on Saturday morning with a wide awake baby at 6am that keep me away!

I don't know your situation personally but I personally think you will lose more sleep with having her CIO during the night. Trying to sleep as your baby is crying is not easy! I'm speaking from experience with my DD1 , she has always been a bad sleeper and did not start STTN until 6 months. I tried to let her CIO just to get her down for bed a couple times when she was a bit older, and I would just sit down outside by her door and cry with her. I'm sorry you are goin through this , I know how hard it is.. But it won't be this way for long!

I regularly am too lazy to unload the silverware out of my dishwasher, I just add to it and keep running the dishwasher until I decide there are too many and force myself to empty it.

  • Yeah, my DH does try to soothe. If E wakes and starts fussing but I am already nursing V, DH gets up and tries to rock/sing to E, but she ain't having it. She continues to fuss until V finishes and I can roll over and nurse E. And vice versa if E is nursing when V wakes. Poor DH, he does try.

  • To each their own.  You do your thing and I'll do mine.  DD wakes 3-4 times at night to eat .5-1oz of formula.  She is not eating because she's hungry, she's eating because she doesn't know how to put herself back to sleep.  I still, to this day, log her feedings because she's had tummy troubles.  She's in the 90% for height and 80% for weight, so no, I'm not withholding food from her.  Get a grip.  The pediatrician AND gastroenterologist said she is capable of STTN and doesn't need to feed in the MOTN.  They suggested I let her CIO and I'm going to take their advice.  You don't have to like it.  Just like I don't like other things people do with their kids.  But I'm HARDLY withholding food from her.  The only reason she's gained so much weight in lieu of her stomach issues is because I've been so diligent about feeding her around the clock.  But thanks for your flames....I tuck them away for another rainy day.  I know there are plenty of moms and babies that have made it out just fine through CIO.

@strawny0807 - is this MUD? Inquiring minds want to know. If not - PLEASE do not withhold food from your baby. LOs Pediatrician told us at his 4 month appt to start spacing feedings because he was rapidly gaining. So that's what we did - little by little we spaced out feedings and we introduced solids faster than originally planned so that he would stay fuller longer. I would NEVER jump from overnight feedings to CIO.
E used to STTN. Now he wakes overnight a few times a week and I feed him. Am I tired? Of course. Would I ever let him cry knowing that he normally has a bottle at that time? No freaking way.

This is pretty much what I was thinking, so I am not gonna pile it on.

... unless it *is* MUD, the effin raaaAAAaaawr!!!!!11!!!!eleventyetc.etc.

@kyliensc - I will go in and rub her little belly and reassure her but I'm not feeding her.  Not all babies take a paci or suck their thumb either.  Hence, waking up multiple times at night to eat less than ONE ounce.  She won't be CIO alone either....good god, I'll be crying right there with her because it's going to be hard...but it needs to be done.  You people really jump to conclusions and think the worst of people.

  • I also ate too much candy today. I chose the "healthier" sandwich option at lunch, then proceeded to eat a candied apple and a third of a bag of candy corn. I feel disgusting and my teeth feel like sandpaper. I'm seriously considering walking 4 blocks to Target to get some sugarfree gum and check out the leftover Halloween costumes (we have another party this weekend).

  • My FFFC: I often pretend I'm pumping in my classroom with all the blinds shut and doors locked just so I get a few seconds of peace and quiet...

#2:I'm pretty sure I accidentally let J CIO the other night.  I'm pretty sure I heard him crying in his crib but I'm pretty sure I heard DH stir so I thought he was going to get him and fell back asleep fairly quickly... but there's a lot of pretty sure-s in that sentence because I totally could've been dreaming the entire thing!

You might as well check out the on-sale candy while you are there.

Seriously, clearance candy tastes so much better
