Drink suggestions?

Hi all-
Lately I have been having terrible reflux, especially when I drink water (flat or fizzy). I have been drinking milk like crazy. Any other drink suggestions that will not aggravate reflux? Sorry for the dullsville post. I am just desperate for something else to drink!

Re: Drink suggestions?

  • I'm with you milk is the only thing that helps the reflux! I started drinking strawberry milk everyonce in a while just to mix it up a bit. Also try fruit punch but I water mine down by about half. Good luck

  • Are you taking anything for the reflux? Zantac is the only thing that helps me, other than milk. Milk helps, but only for short term, immediate relief.
  • Try coconut water. It is a great drink for hydration. You might want to try it first with a fruit flavor added or the like before trying it without. Sometimes I mix half plain coconut water and half apple juice.

  • I love almond milk too. Vanilla or chocolate. The vanilla is sweeter than milk and is nice for a change.
Can't figure out the signature thing, so here's the short, short version.....first daughter born on November 10, 2013. She was conceived through the magic of IVF after 2+ years of TTC.
  • Zantac. Then you can drink whatever you want. And water is really good for you. I personally think adults drinking milk (unless it's in a coffee drink or a smoothie) is really gross.

  • My MW gave me a suggestion that never occurred to me that has helped a lot.  I was getting really bad reflux-- especially at night, and especially from water.  But I literally haven't taken any medication other than a handful of Tums this pregnancy so I didn't want to start with Zantac with only a few days left.

Your stomach makes acid basically anytime you eat or drink something.  With my meals I would drink OJ, milk or sometimes juice/ginger ale/occasional soda and between meals I always drink water.  Drinking lots of water between meals was making my stomach make more acid- and especially around bedtime made me miserable.  Now I try to drink most of my water with or close to a meal, and only drink milk after dinner.

    Hope you get some relief!

  • Thanks for all the suggestions! I am having a SCS next week, so I was trying to stick it out with Tums, too. And I really love drinking milk, too!!! I was just hoping for a little variety.
