Labor buddies?

Do most boards have labor buddies? If so, is that something we're interested in doing? I saw a reference to it in a January post, so it made me think about it.

Usually just updates the board when you go into labor, have your baby, anything else you want them to update about if you can't.

I wonder if it would be better to pair up first to mid of the month with end of the month edds? Just seems like it might work better ?

I think you pair up with someone and contact them when you are in labor so that they can update the board...but i may be wrong. Also, I think that you should pair with someone who has a different due date (not that dd's realy matter) just in case you both are in labor at same time...it would make it hard to update the board.

Yeah I would think it'd be better to match people up with due dates farther apart, if possible, so that the chances that both people would be in labor at the same time would be smaller.

I don't really know how it would work logistically... Has anyone done it before on another BMB? I guess you'd probably have to text your buddy to let them know what was going on? And I wonder how people are matched up?

I saw one board (dont' remember which I was Extremly bored, as I often am at work, and lurking) where the members posted questions/ tried to court a partner. The individual people worked it out themselves I think. may not be the most organized way though

With DS's BMB we paired up with people who where not close, but maybe two weeks apart. We would exchange email address and phone number (if you are comfortable doing that) and would text the person when you are in labor to update the bumpies.... I didn't text my labor buddy until after DS was born and we settled... TBH I didn't want to get on the internet after having my son to update FB or even TB.... so I'm glad I had one and would like to participate again with this baby.

I just got a smartphone like a year ago... so I think it worked because many didn't have smartphones at the time...

I don't know about you ladies, but I plan on liveblogging my birth right here on M14, complete with pictoral updates for each centimeter of dialation. No need for a labor buddy!

Maybe those interested could send me a personal message with your due date and time zone, and then I can find some program that will let me randomly generate matches. Hopefully there will be a way to classify 2 groups based on due dates (those due first half of the month and those due at the end) and then I can match one person from each group. Does that sound good? Any other ideas?

Ya'll, this is soooo not funny...MIL asked if we could skype during the twins birth...not just "oh if you are feeling well during labor maybe we can skype" but "I'd really to witness it as long as it won't get in the way of the doctors."

Who the fuck does she think is going to hold a laptop up to my cooch while babieS are coming out of it?!?!?!??!
