Re: 1st Tri - Are you telling at 12 weeks or 13.3?

  • We had our NT scan today and told both sides of our family afterwards!  Still not going to make it facebook "official" for a while.  Most people who we would want to know already do anyways!

  • Lots of people already know because we've told all of our family but we will most likely be announcing to everyone on FB after our NT scan which happens to be on 13w3d

  • We told our parents/siblings 8 weeks. Some close friends after that. Tomorrow we have an apt, and if we hear the heartbeat, we'll tell everyone else. (12w3d)
Warning No formatter is installed for the format bbhtml
  • We're telling our families at Thanksgiving since we all get together at one home. I'll be 15 weeks. We plan on telling a few close friends before then (after the NT scan) because we don't want them to hear on FB after we tell our family.

  • We haven't told a single person yet. Definitely waiting until after 1st tri and make sure everything is okay with the baby. We're going to tell parents first, then siblings, then the public.
  • Immediate family, my boss and my best friend know... was planning on waiting til 12 weeks but decided to wait until after our NT scan and my best friend's wedding next weekend... so will be 13 going on 14 weeks when we go public... I was excited and now that I'm getting "used" to it I"m like meehhh whenever haha
  • 4 weeks told sisIL (had to tell someone and we were at her house all the time before we moved do she'd have known anyways)
8-9 weeks told parents and family we see/talk to regularly (after u/s to check on baby cause of previous losses)
12 weeks told rest of family that didn't know
I'm making it fb official this thurs at 13w2d cause I wanted to do a guess my costume thing and see who got it and would guess that I'm preggers. I was going to do a oven with a bun on my stomach but the box I was going to use got ruined by unexpected rain. Now I want to do some kind of 16 and pregnant costume but I am so exhausted that coming up with it just to post on fb seems too much. Might just post our announcement on Halloween instead with the caption trick or treat? Here's a lil treat for ya.
  • After our scan on 11/15 I think it's actually around 13.

  • We've told immediate family and close friends already.  I had to tell my HR department and my supervisor today because of my absences.  Our NT Scan is scheduled for the 13th, so we will tell the rest of the world after that.  The biggest group I need to tell is my staff.  I have 37 staff members that work under me and it's getting hard to hide the bloat from them!

  • Just Facebook announced yesterday night, at 12 weeks 5 days.  We had our 2nd appt on Tuesday when I was 12 weeks exactly.

  • we told my immediate fam at around 8 weeks, as well as my work friends who share an office with me (I needed someone to complain to, and they would have figured it out anyways!), telling DH's fam this week, and any FB/others will come after the NT scan.

But I told my BFF before I told Dh...

  • Told my besties right away, told my parents at 9w, and now that we had the NT scan we are telling more close friends. We are waiting until Christmas or New Years to announce on FB, which will be 22 weeks. I like making the world wait. And once baby comes, I'm making a private page that has to be subscribed to so the weirdos can't see my baby.
  • On our wedding day I was 6w3d. Only a couple of people knew (one of my bridesmaids, and one of his groomsmen, and one other friend of mine) One week later we told our parents, and my sister. My mom told a couple of our closest family members, who we would have wanted support from had something have happened. Since that, we have slowly been telling close friends, and other family. I heard the heartbeat at 6w2d, and again at 11w6d. We have our ultrasound at 13w, and will announce the next day on Halloween at 13w1d.
  • We had a really active social life prior to pregnancy which included drinks twice a week. I didn't feel like faking, so after our first US which ended up being 6 weeks 4 days, we announced to family and friends. I'm really glad I did because we've had a few minor complications and their support throughout has been really amazing. I ended up telling work at the 9 week mark because MS was kicking my butt and I had to call out of work two days in a row/leave a day early before Diclegis was prescribed.

It worked for us. That isn't to say it's for everyone. We had no illusions about miscarriage percentage/etc, we understood the risk and were prepared to have to share if we'd had a loss. Thankfully we haven't and we are hoping to have an uneventful second and third tri.
