Cough :(

LO has a cough. I am not worried about bronchial issues as it doesn't sound that deep to me but the thing is sure persistent. She's woken herself up a few times tonight coughing and has then wanted to e held. I finally surrendered and put her in her rock n play as I think the elevation makes it a little less distressing for her.

Anyone have any reccomendations on what I can do to make her more confortable? I use the baby vapo rub but confess I forgot it to put it on her tonight when I got her ready for bed.

And now for the dramatic part, she started with a runny nose two weeks ago which I'm pretty sure was teething related. Thing is lingering and now she's coughing too. I worry the combo of cold weather plus daycare means my entire winter will be like this. Ugh

Coughs like that stink! I spent many nights holding DS. Have you tried propping her mattress? That might help a little. Hope she feels better soon!

Also, maybe ask your pedi first, but a few teaspoons of warm apple juice really helps to coat the throat and ease those awful coughing spurts. Hope LO is feeling better.

Sometimes the runny nose can cause a cough. Do you have a humidifier in the room? That might help too. It is so heartbreaking to see LO sick when there is little you can do. I hope she feels better soon hon!

Thanks ladies! Unfortunately I've been doing all of the above and nothing has really helped

well just keep plugging away. God how I wish she could just take Robitussin already

Have/can you used Benadryl yet? If it is post nasal drip that is causing her to cough, Benadryl really dries DS out at night and makes a world of difference.

Wait, what? @ccam you can give babies Benadryl? What age? I will ask the pedi Wednesday at her appt, but I had no idea!

@TJ1979 Yes!! I think our pedi told us at about 6 months?? All depends on weight though, and DS does not lack that!! He had a runny nose for months, which lead to coughs and ear infections. Our pedi suggested it and we used it at night to dry him up which, in turn, lessened his cough. I think he has allergies. Oh it makes DS drowsy so we only use it at night.

Thanks @ccam!!!! good to know, sounds like it could really help her! We have a pedi appointment next week, so I will probably hold off and ask in person. My LO is on the smaller side, so she may not weigh enough

FX we get the green light!!! LO's cough seems to get worse at night.... Last night it started after 2 hours of a deep sleep, I wound up picking her up and every time I tried to put her down she would cry. It was so sad, sure enough - she ended up in her beloved RNP. Even there she whimpered a few times through out the night.
