Nap train

Anyone do this??  DD usually naps well but I always put her to sleep by walking or nursing.  I want to be able to put her down awake and let her fall asleep. Also traveling soon for the holidays and thought it would be easier if she fell asleep on her own.  Experiences???

Re: Nap train

  • practice. put her down drowsy but awake (I'm sure you've heard that 290390438 times) and see if she'll fall asleep.  just time it for the first yawn/eye rub. my DD has a little love blanket she talks to and plays with until she falls asleep if she's not automatically hungry

  • We usually use the swing...it is only for naps so she know if she is going in she is sleeping.  She gets her sleep time blankie too.  This blankie is only for sleep time. We have been working on napping in the crib. At bed time I can put here down awake so that is what we are working on for nap time.  Daycare also puts her down awake.  Routine is the main thing...and repeat until they learn.
