Second time around

For those of you who are pregnant again, did you do anything special to break the news? I POAS this weekend, twice, and although it wasn't a dark plus sign it was definitely a plus sign! I would like to tell my DH in a creative and fun way and possible involving my 14 month old.
Any suggestions? How did you reveal your second (third, fourth, etc..) pregnancy?

  • No suggestions, but congrats!

  • Congratulations!

Albert's my only one, so no suggestions here, either!  I'm interested in what others contribute though. :)

  • Maybe a shirt that says Big brother in training or something cute like that for your LO?

I am not really creative but congrats!

  • Ohhh!  Congrats!

I've only got one LO, but before getting pregnant, I always wanted to be able to surprise DD with the news.  Unfortunially we had to do ART (IUIs and IVFs), so that took the "surprise" out of things!

With halloween this week, maybe you can incorporate it that way?

I just did a quick google for halooween pregnancy announcements:

    https://pregnancy.about.com/od/announcingyourpregnancy/ss/halloweenann.htm

    1. Consider letting your jack-o-lantern tell the story. You could carve baby related things like rattles, baby faces, etc. You could even do morning sickness as a pumpkin - a jack-o-lantern throwing up! One mom wrote that she opened the top of the pumpkin and buried her positive pregnancy test into the goop. Her husband found it as he was carving...
    2. Play trick or treat, the game. Ask your husband, "Trick or treat?" If he says trick, you can say, "I'm not pregnant." If he says treat, you answer, "We're expecting a baby - what a treat!"

When we told our families (at christmas 2011) we had M&Ms made ... they were red and green ... with 4 differant messages:

    • New
    • Miller
    • Arriving
    • August 2012

We put them out and waited to see how long it too for people to catch on!  Maybe something like this only with orange and green M&Ms, and maybe have your LO give them to your DH as part of a special halloween gift.

    GL!

At 20-week anatomy scan found IUGR (Intrauterine Growth Restriction), and very low Amniotic Fluid.  Now, I'm High Risk and have weekly ultrasounds to monitor fluid and growth.  If baby runs out of room or is too growth restricted, they will deliver ASAP.  My current goal is to make it to 28 weeks!

  • Tell him to read LO a book and put the news in the book.

I put a single baby penguin ornament on our undecorated tree when I told H. I saw a bumpie's sister carve a big hole in a pumpkin and put a baby pumpkin inside it to signify the baby. You could do that.

Then and now. How did my boy get so big?

  • Oh and CONGRATULATIONS!!! Whoohooo! A12 is baby making central!

  • Thanks ladies! @Toni79 those are great ideas! So creative but am not sure I could pull those off this week. I do like the shirt idea and maybe seeing how long it takes him to read the shirt and understand what is going on.
When we had DS my DH knew I was POAS stick it took the fun out of telling him. This time around I want it to be a fun surprise!
    Thanks again!

  • Congrats! I wanted to tell DH in a cute way but he was the one that convinced me to POAS and was there for it. Some of my thoughts were:

    1. If I'd gotten knocked up closer to Christmas, giving him the pos preg (a fresher one) as a gift.
    2. Literally put a loaf of bread in the oven and ask him to check on dinner in the oven for me...

  • Congrats!   Give him a twix bar and the pee stick and then tell him 'why stop at just one"  . . .  I have no creative ideas, but I like the pumpkin ideas mentioned.

This exactly. I wish I had done something more fun with DH, too. If we have a 3rd, I will be more creative.

    And congrats! :)
