Video camera, get one or skip it?

My Mom has been converting her VHS tapes to DVDs, and in doing so has stated over and over, "you don't need to tape your kid opening every present, or anything for greater than 5 minutes." So I've been wondering, do we need a video camera? We have smart phones and iPads. What do you think? If you have one that you love what is it? Thanks!

We have a Flip Vid that we use for special events. I like it because it's HD and easy to carry around, and I don't have to worry about all the space videos take up on my iPhone. It's also resilient enough that I don't worry about handing it off to nieces and nephews to use, which they get a kick out of.

We have a video camera and still have iPhones and an iPad. The iPhones are what we use most of the time but a few times a year, I really like having a video camera. The quality is much better.

We don't have a video camera. I've just used my iPhone to record everything and then I load and send clips to family. It's been working well enough so far.

We have a nice video camera that we received as a gift before having DS. We hardly ever use it. When he does something cute we usually just capture it with an iPhone.

We bought a video camera when DD was born and used it....get this....zero times. Yep, it's never been used. We use our iPhones all the time for videos and it works perfectly.

We got a flip cam for our wedding and will use that for baby related videos. We don't want to be recording on our phones and have it cut off all of a sudden, and the flip cams are small enough to throw in a bag.

I have a video camera and a Flip HD and I never use them. I honestly don't even know where they are. I just use my phone for everything.

We registered for a flip video camera. We are team green and I really wanted something a little more "real" to capture my husband telling our family what the sex of our baby is!

We bought one before DS was born and was right before the iPhone added video recording. So, needless to say, we've never even used the video recorder.
