Preemie Question!

FTM here! My son was born at 32.5 weeks and we had a 2 week NICU stay. He has only had my breastmilk. No formula. His BM used to be a yellow/orange color and seedy looking but now they have changed to green and seedy looking. Is this normal? He doesn't fuss like his stomach bothers him and he's gaining weight. I'm just not sure why the color of his BMs have changed!

Green is a foremilk imbalance, usually. I'd keep on one side for longer or block feed. Kellymom.com has good info on it. I had thid problem when I was pumping a ton for supplementing. I had to wean off the pump and block feed.

If I block feed, do I need to pump my other breast between feedings?

It also might just be something you ate.   Ask your pedi, but we get green poops sometimes with the twins and did also with DD1.   If your LO is gaining weight and not fussy and you've only had a couple of green poops, I personally wouldn't worry about it yet.   How many green poops have you had in a row?

Are you pumping at all?  If so, what does your BM look like when you pump- is it very transparent or is it thicker?  Blue/green or yellow/cream?   Foremilk will be more transparent and hindmilk is thicker.  It's normal to have a mix of both and have more foremilk than hindmilk at some times of the day.
