Yep, but I'm 5'5" and drive 100km. Per hour...we're all sorts of messed up.
And we also drink POP not Soda! (or is that only an East coast thing?)
We drink "pop" in the Midwest also. Chicago does anyway
Oh really?! I totally thought it was a Canadian thing. Interesting. I go to Maine a few times per year and they definitely say Soda and look at me funny when I forget and say pop at a restaurant!
I got flagged so many times. All for a simple bag of dicks comment. I mean seriously was anyone that offended? Its the internet. I do feel kinda special though :-D
And I feel compelled as a semi-regular May '13 er to say that we do not condone cat spanking (I'll count on Lax or Allie for a pun--you know it's there). We'll start flaming that child immediately, comprehensively, and unmercifully, just like the rule book says.
Lax, I wasn't knocking you. I love non-American spellings and pronunciations!
To add to the soda conversation: In Texas, we use the brand/word "Coke" inclusively for all sodas, the way people use "Kleenex" to refer to all brands of tissue. My favourite coke is Dr. Pepper.
Lol That's weird I live in Texas and say coke for coca cola and soda for all types.

Y'all. I'm from the dirty dirty south, k? It's chill bumps. Haha.
Oh and there was someone who made a remark about southerners in the FFFC. I may be sweet and southern, but I'll cuttabitch for talkin' smack on all us southerners, ya hear?
That was me and it wasn't against Southerns. That troll from the Parenting board was cursing up a storm and being awful then tried to be "classy" by saying "bless your heart". I'm from NC and how that woman talked on our board is just pure trash. No Southerner with class would use that many f bombs or derogatory terms. She was on her fire and brimstone soap box and that is the last thing I need to hear right now during election time.
@jpg13 I'm a transplant too and I hate "bless your heart". It's really condescending which is another reason I was annoyed with that Parenting troll. Since I'm a transplant I definitely don't call myself a southerner, I just say I'm from NC. It's like people calling themselves NYers because they moved to NY for 6 months after watching Sex in the City too many times. You live in NY but still not a NYer. Love NC and the people I've met here!

Yeah. I only say "bless you" when I really mean it. People who say it on TB are usually being bitches. And I think I just took your comment as sarcastic. But we're cool.
And I'm born and raised southern, but I'm seriously like the anti-southerner to my friends. I hate country music, sweet tea, any kind of fruit pie, pick-up trucks (if you don't own a farm, you don't need truck), and lynard skynard's "sweet home Alabama" has got to be one of the worst songs ever.
I also have an English degree and most southernisms drive me nuts. I learned at a very young age that people look down on you for the way you talk, and I purposely curbed my accent. To my southern friends, I don't have an accent, but I'm sure I do to northerners. Haha. I still say "peench" for "pinch." I can't help it.

In Montana we say "bless you" when you sneeze! We say bless your heart when the person is doing something sweet and it's not meant sarcastically. .. unless someone says it when you're being ignorant. Kinda like "bless your heart ya big dummy"
Another commercial that bugs me? That freaking Hayden Painintheass of whatever her name is doing her country song Cotton commercial. You play a character on that Nashville show. You are not country. We're not buying it. Same goes to you Taylor Swift.
Ugh! Swype text, why you no like punctuation??
Omg yes! I hate that commercial.

I know what you mean about curbing your accent. The New York one I have isn't loved anywhere but in NY. I do my best to not sound harsh but no matter what I drink "cawfee", I have two "dawgs", I put R's clothes in a "draw" and "not for nothing", I proudly wear my Yankees and Jets apparel. I also didn't learn to pump gas until I was 23 and I scare everyone when I cross the street.
I also hate sweet tea and "Sweet Home Alabama" but I've come to tolerate country music, we do drive a truck. I'd like to add I love me some chicken biscuits from Bojangles, I now know way too much about NASCAR, and I know how to correctly pronounce Appalachian. Still do not understand how gravy can be white and how something other than chicken can be chicken fried. I don't know why police have to direct traffic at every church and why no one seems to understand the purpose of a turning signal.
I must be Canadian: Zed check Pop check Goose bumps check
Also 5'5". This is uncanny!
Wait you guys measure in feet and inches?
We do we do!
So then why does my H hang on to this ridiculousness that he must measure his height in cm because he's part of the commonwealth. F'ing Australia can't do anything right. Jk Aussies

Can you tell me what a stone is? I know he does it so his weight seems less, but honestly is this the Middle Ages where we are weighing things on scales against a stone counter weight.

"I am 2 and 20 stone sire"
Ha ha I know what you mean, it's archaic. 14 lbs in a stone.
@emmy236 - isn't it "app-uh-lay-sha?" I didn't realize this was contentious.
People 'round here say "app-uh-latch-an."
The world says it correctly but if you say it here in NC and especially to some one who went to App St you will get a really long lecture about it,which will inevitably turn into how App St beat Michigan in 2007 on a block field goal by a guy who married Billy Graham's granddaughter. Then you get a lecture on Billy Graham. If you don't know who he is don't say "is he a NASCAR driver?" or "was he the guy married to Tami Baker who went to jail?" Definitely made those mistakes and had to sit through an afternoon of NC education with my boss (App alum and Billy Graham fan).
