I had the scare of my life this morning at 4am. I had just put DS down after his 3am MOTN feed and gotten into bed when I heard him start to softly fuss on the monitor. I figured he was fine and just needed to put himself back to sleep. He fussed for a litle bit but then he let out a single loud terrified shreak (like a night terror yell) followed by frantic kicking. I went in to see what was wrong and when I picked him up he was nearly purple, eyes bulging with snot blocking both nostrils and he couldn't breathe because phlegm was blocking the airway in his throat to the point that he couldnt even cry. It all happened so quickly! I grabbed the aspirator and started suctioning his nose and out of his mouth. He finally let out a cough and started breathing heavily. I had never been more scared in my life. All I could think about was why didn't I take the infant CPR and choking class!!! I steamed him in the shower to loosen up the phlegm and he slept with me the rest of the night. He's fine now. What is so weird is that when I initially put him down after the feed he was breathing just fine! Anyway, if anyone has any other pointers on how to save babies choking on phlegm, please let me know. I was operating on sheer instinct. Thank God it worked.

Why thank you. The only reason I remember the "love" one is because it was my BFF's birthday.

My mom told me to call the pedi to check out his chest. I'll email her and see what she thinks happened. He doesn't seem to have a chest cold...
