Yeah... I've had those nights. I've started to take it away when he's just about asleep. That way, if he doesn't have it to lose, he won't wake up when it falls out. It works about half the time. Hopefully you find a way to make it work easier for you!

I was doing that, but my pedi suggested I stop..He said we will create a monster. I usually put her down without it...sometimes she goes right to sleep and sometimes she squirms for a while. After about 10 mins or so of squirming (not crying), I go up and give her the paci...she falls asleep instantly..I think it works bc by the time i give it to her, she has tired herself out. I'm sure that won't work for all, but it does for us!

I have those nights are rough. For the most part ds will go to sleep without a paci but during the motn he sometimes needs one after his bottle

Thank goodness, no. My LO only uses it to calm herself and when she is done with it will remove it. The only time she fusses for it is when she is awake and not ready to sleep, Iif that makes sense.

Thankfully not. When he goes to sleep with it, which isn't often, he spits it out and just stays asleep. I assume I just got lucky with that.

We've learned not to put LO down with it and like pp said if we get into that game he's not really ready to go down for the night. Usually ill try giving him the boob and topping him off and 95 percent of the time that works. The other five percent he's just not ready for bed and we would play the paci game until his next feeding, which is why now we don't put him down with it. We haven't had to do it in awhile, he's getting down for the night earlier than before so we aren't tying to get him to go to sleep with it. The paci is usually our last resort or just for DH

We try not to use it often. She usually only wants/gets it when she is tired but fighting sleep and even then we take it out before she is fully asleep. This is our approach in hopes of avoiding that nighttime paci monster!

With Lucas, yes! Alexis uses it to go to sleep, but usually spits it out after 5 minutes. She's not dependent on it.

Most nights we're pretty lucky, but occasionally yes. The other night DH and I took turns for about 2 hours until finally getting DD to sleep.

Yep, but not often. Once my LO is falling asleep we take it out (so that he isn't too dependent on it in the long run).

We occasionally put LO down with one, but the times we do she is asleep when it falls out so we don't have to put it back in.

Knock on wood, no! LO sometimes goes down with it but once it's out, he doesn't cry for it! Hopefully it stays that way!

DD doesn't need one at night thankfully. She doesn't always take her paci at naptime either and if she does she spits it out after a couple of minutes. Even then she hasn't cried for it back.

No LO will not take a paci but some nights, last night, I have to keep giving her the boob cuz she refused to fall asleep on her own. I think he was just extra needy, I would hate it to become a trend though, nipple or paci
