Baby does have heart problem

We went back to the children's hospital for another fetal echo today, and our baby was diagnosed with heart defects. It is likely Tetralogy of Fallot (Amaite, I would definitely like to write/speak to you about your experience). A lot can happen between now and the end of the pregnancy (none of which I can influence with my behavior, I'm told), so the severity is unknown, but baby will likely need open heart surgery by 6 months. Now that we've had two babies with major heart issues, it's definitely genetic. I am so grateful for my healthy daughter right now and hoping that we end up with the best case scenario with this baby (a boy) and that he can have a full repair and is able to lead a normal life. Thanks again ladies for your support.

So sorry to hear that. I can't imagine. An ex boyfriend of mine just had a baby girl with tof. She just had open heart surgery and she is doing great! It's definitely been hard for them but they are getting through and baby is thriving. Everything will be ok... Just believe that it will. Thoughts and prayers. And HUGS!

I realize that every case is unique but Shaun White was born with tof and look where he is now! 27 years old with two gold medals.

I didn't know he had that defect, I think it's cool that he has thrived in his sport.

Yes, I did know this. He actually lives in our town, too. Hopefully it's on the low end of severity like his was. Thank you so much for your support, ladies. It really means a lot to us.

I'm very sorry about your son's heart issues. Not to make light of an infant undergoing cardiac surgery but thank goodness for 21st century technology and medicine where he was diagnosed prenatally and can be treated right after birth. Sending T and P to you and your family.
