I hate those little mittens people put on their babies to keep them from scratching themselves.

And to be honest, im not to sure why i hate them but they bother me.

So if your kid was a scratcher, would you let him scratch because you hate the mittens?

    I think eggnog is gross.

MH looks hot in skinny jeans even at 40. We own THAT.

I think this hairstyle is boring.

  • I think it's stupid that LO has to be in "daytime clothes" to be dropped off at daycare. At home, I change her into clothes everyday after a morning bottle and poop. When she starts daycare, she'll be going two hours before we change her at home. They desire to keep the home schedule, so why can't they change her?!
  • LEMSA said:
I agree with the mittens. Although my son scratches his face a lot. He looks like he has been in a cat fight. I was told by a pedi that using mittens may delay the use of their hands. By now the hands should be open more, swatting, reaching, and a few other developmental things. Wearing mittens 24/7 may delay this.
Also touch is one of the 5 senses. I don't want to mute that. Look, listen, feel, taste, and smell. Would you block any of the other senses out? My UO (maybe unpopular),is I dislike commercials and billboards--basically I can't stand any advertisement. I know people have to make a living, but I can't pee without a stupid advertisement on the back of the stall. Quit trying to sell me crap.

We use mittens at night becuase LOs hands get sooo cold. He is developing just fine! :) And FYI we also blindfold him reguarly and put ear plugs in so he can't hear just becuase it is fun (sarcasm)....seriously WTF kind of comment is that?? So occasionally using mittens so that DS's hands dont freeze/he doesn't scratch himself is the same thing as blocking his senses???

My UO: The hype of the word bullying. EVERYTHING now days is associated with being bullied. People need to figure out what the real definition is before throwing the word around. For example, a football coach here in Texas had a claim filed against him that he was "bullying" the kids on the other team because his team beat them 91-0.

  • Meh, I don't know how UO this is but I really hate those FB pictures that say "if I get 10,000 likes my dad will give me a hug"....WTF? I thought these ads/pictures were slowly disappearing but I'm seeing an influx. I purposefully don't *like* them because it's bullshit.

    I agree 100%.

  • @Soleil3 Have you read anything by Garth Nix? I think that's the best example of YA vs Twilight. Abhorsen is so good. It has fantastic writing. Twilight is poorly written and full of plot hoes. I did read the books because everyone kept telling me that they got better. The biggest plot hole is the kid with the worst name in literature. She talks at length about how the blonde sister dislikes Bella because she is able to have children but vampires can't. Then she throws in a kid with very little information why. The characters don't know how it happened because the author has no idea.

The biggest thing about fantasy is making the rules for your story and sticking to it. That's why I don't like Twilight. It's not true to the genre.

    *stepping down from my soapbox*

I second Garth Nix! Also I would recommend Neil Gaiman who does excellent young adult and adult books. Diane Duane's Deep Wizardry series is another I strongly recommend. Also Philip Pullman's His Dark Materials trilogy.

  • My UO is that I now understand Moms wearing work out clothes 24/7. I used to judge it when I saw Moms at parks in track suits (I thought, "we get it, you work out"), but now I actually get it. It's about comfort & busy schedule...and now I predominantly wear "gym clothes." Still not a fan of matching track suits though.

I exclusively wear yoga pants unless I'm actually going "out." And I don't include the park as "out," those walks are still the only real exercise I get so I might as well be wearing workout clothes.

My UO based on what I've seen from other EBF moms is that I'm looking forward to having enough pumped that DH can maybe take a feeding. He'll be 7 weeks tomorrow, and my boobs still hurt. Just one feeding "off" sounds nice, but I'm trying to save what I'm pumping right now for when I go back to work.
  • Apparently this is a UO around here: I have been shaving since the day I got home from the hospital.  Granted I have been extremely careful around my c-section scar, but I hate the way I feel when I have not shaved.  I forgot to pack a razor to take to the hospital and those four days were awful when it came to not shaving.

Also, I LOVE eggnog and can't wait for it to come out again.  It's almost that time!

This.. Have you shaved over your incision? I've been shaving around it.. And it's not very attractive but for some reason I'm afraid to shave over it. Weird, I know!

I hate people who judge me for drinking caffeine and breast feeding

I hate Facebook so much I deleted mine because I don't like it being so impersonal, I rather have the phone numbers of close friends and text when something important happens.

I hate skinny jeans because they look bad on me ;( and I am waiting like the rest of you for the trend to die

I also hate that i can't figure out how to change my picture in the bump or use it through my computer :/ so I am always mobile ( ya I am good at other things just not computer but I can whip you up a bad ass homemade anything)
  • Re: plot holes,  I didn't need her to go into the details of how one gets pregnant, and find it reasonable that it doesn't happen that often and when it does, the babe is often killed as an immortal child. Im not an english major so I don't know what makes it poor writing. I had a good sense of the characters and the scenery, and the plot was interesting enough for me.

I couldn't get into garth nix, I tried one of his series awhile back, Sabrial I think.

  • This seems to be an UO... I love sex! MH and I have had sex daily since 6 weeks PP.  :)

You need to get with my boyfriend. He's been turned down so much. Poor guy! I force myself to give in once a week, but I'm too tired to do it daily.

  • I like skinny jeans. I like snow.
I like skinny jeans too. Right now everything makes a muffin top for me, so I am just trying to deal as best as possible. Can't wait until payday so I can buy some stuff that fits!

Snow.... where I live snow is a novelty for us, and the whole city shuts down at the thought of it. So I like it. But if I lived somewhere up north where it's extremely dangerous, my opinion would be different.

  • I love that there are so many YA lovers here. I need to find time to pick up Alligent.

I loved the Delirium series and can't wait for the last book in The Mortal Instruments to come out.

@Soleil3 maybe it's a FFFC, but I avoid all things vampire because of the hype. I think the whole vampire genre is lame and nothing about the Twilight series has peaked my interest. (attaching that terrible actress to the movies didn't help either).

The Giver series is beautiful, it's what started my love for all things dystopian. I think JBrooks mentioned a 4th book? I need to look into it.

  • @ffrey1119 I deleted facebook for the same reason (among others). I feel like it actually hurt my relationships with a few people because I got lazy and would just click around on their page to see what was going on in their life instead of a good 'old fashioned phone call!

  • at the hospital I delivered at, they suggested I don't put mittens on LO. He scratched himself a couple of times, but I put BM on it and the marks would be completely gone in a day. The reason they said was sensory development.
I love pumpkin drinks and desserts, but put pumpkin in pasta or something... EW.

  • @V&G101808 I love YA fiction, but I haaaaated Twilight. Or I should say I hated the first half of the first book and the first 30 minutes of the first movie, because that's as far as I got into either. Tedious and not particularly well written, in my opinion.

I really enjoyed both the Uglies and Matched series.

I have the Uglies downloaded but haven't had a chance to read them. I need to pick them up soon.

I tried to like Matched but I felt that book 1 was a complete rip off of the Giver. And with the Giver being one of my favorite books-
I wasn't happy about that. I read the second one and I'll read the 3rd but I don't think I'll waste my money on seeing the movies when they come out (being done by Disney???).

We have, because we were supplementing expressed milk in the beginning to help with weight gain. Now that he's gaining well, my milk gets frozen.
  • @Soleil3 Our tastes just differ. I don't particularly like "romance" in the books I read. I like relationships, but not books based around a romance. They almost always feel forced to me. Especially in Twilight. It never talked about what they had in common or what they did when they weren't fighting off someone. My favorite series isn't YA but maybe if will help explain what I'm into. I love the Dark Tower series by Stephen King. Honestly though, I don't judge anyone for liking Twilight unless you spend your time making these. image
Dude, the dark tower series is my number one most favorite books in the entire world. I'm diverse and easy when it comes to books though, be as far from real life as possible and Ill love you :)

  • I thought I was the last person on earth wearing boot cut jeans. Maybe not? I think skinnies only look good with a flowy top and tucked into boots.
I felt the same way! I still buy boot cut jeans... I have never been that girl who looks cute in skinny jeans.

I loved reading the twilight books. I read all of them in one week. It was a great week. Yes, I'm 31. Oops.

Well, I was 26 when I read them... So that sounds better!

I can't stand moms who wear low cut jeans. You are a mom now, you bend... a lot...there is a difference between "mom jeans" and jeans that cover your ass. Find that difference. Low rise no more!!!

I hate Facebook. I want to delete my account but I have this strange Facebook addiction at the same time. Not posting, but creeping on other people. If I deleted it (which I did a long time ago!) I would be so much more productive!

  • I read YA too.

    A few of my faves:
Angel burn series by Lee Weatherly
Mortal Instrument series by Cassandra Clare (I think this is a movie now)

there's another series I like but I can't recall the name right now.

Me neither. Then again, I don't like anything with Will Ferrell in it. He reminds me of those obnoxious immature guys I hated having to put up with in high school. Why would I willingly subject myself to it now?

My UO: Dogs shouldn't be allowed at public gatherings. Unless it's something specifically for dogs and their owners, leave them home. It makes it less enjoyable for those who are afraid of dogs, allergic to dogs or even just don't like them. And don't even think about letting your dog lick my baby.

I feel bad actually disliking a small child but I do

I have a friend that LOVES my kids. Like asks to take them on random days to spend time with them. I feel bad that I think her son is loud and obnoxious. I lovey kids and think they are awesome and adorable, but I don't understand her almost obsession with them
