Too many posts about unrelated topics??

It seems like more and more lately posts are heavily off subject of pregnancy related items. I'm not sure if it's just my hormones or does anyone else feel this way? I feel like if I wanted to talk to strangers about how much I hate my in laws or the fact that my dog ran away again I would join a general chat board. I'm on here to hear about pregnancy related subjects and scrolling through all of the unrelated items is getting old. If I'm in the wrong then I'll leave but I thought that was the pourpose of "The Bump."

I agree with @ColleenSwerb

Plus, its nice to have off-topic conversations to get to know one an other better. We can only talk about breastfeeding and diapers so much.

This is a pregnancy bored but we can't talk about pregnancy 24/7 people will get bored really fast. There isn't any place where it's going to be all baby's all the time... Sorry

There is more going on in our lives than just the pregnancy. I like to read about/comment on all types of topics. If it bothers you it's pretty easy to pick and choose which topics you open and you personally could just stick to the pregnancy related ones.

Okay ladies, no need to get angry and try to push me away. It was just a topic of conversation, I wasn't being rude. I like it here and I will just not click on the topics I don't want to read. Simple as that.

If you want to just discuss pregnancy related topics I would suggest the tri boards (first, second, third tri). They are usually more focused on just pregnancy topics. Birth clubs are more on getting to know other moms going through the same things at the same time as you. Here is the second tri board: https://forums.thebump.com/categories/2nd-trimester. It may be more what you are looking for.

You might be better off looking for a board that ONLY discusses baby things.

There are many of us who are actively part of this board, and who plan on being so for the long haul. How incredibly boring would it be if all we did was sit around and go on and on and on about baby things. It's fun getting to know everyone, and the best way to do that is by discussing non-baby related topics. that way, when the baby related things do come up, we feel a stronger connection with those who are sharing their experiences.

Personally, I joined this board to share the commonality of pregnancy. After that initial bond, my favorite part is being able to share other common interests, thoughts, etc... to deepen those bonds and it is just nice to be able to relate to other people.

I would suggest joining a different website, pregnancy board about a specific topic, or not open any non-related pregnancy posts. People here are excited to talk about whoever, whatever, and whenever that has to do with the baby or pregnancy feelings, thoughts, etc...

I actually enjoy the non-pregnancy posts a little more than the pregnancy posts because those become redundant.

OP, there was really no need to start this thread to vent when you very well know that you could just click on the threads that are related to pregnancy. People are pretty good about using specific thread titles or putting NBR (not bump related) in the title. This post was unnecessary.

@jessjane12 I don't think anyone is being aggressive at all. People were making suggestions as to where you can go to get what you're looking for.
I really don't have a problem with this board discussing things that are NPR. In fact, I really enjoy it! As others have said, it would be pretty boring if we'd all just talk about babies.
Just remember, if you're going to post a discussion, don't expect everyone to agree with you and don't get upset if you don't get the response you want.

Haha, I'm not upset in the least. And I can handle other options than my own. I knew this would be the reactions from my thread so I never should have posted it. I'm not part of this inside group and I don't get your inside jokes. Call to the internet police, drama llama, loud noises!! That's not being rude? Okay, sorry. Never meant to get everyone so worked up over something so small. Like I said before I was never being rude and said I would just click on the topics I wanted, but the comments just kept coming! I'll try to find another board that I may fit better in. Thanks to the ladies for suggesting that.

Idk about you guys but at this point in my pregnancy (16 weeks) not a whole hell of a lot is going on...I'm not breast feeding or diapering yet... I'm not sick...I'm not feeling kicks and I have a while before my next doctors appointment. Not a whole hell of a lot for me to talk about except wanting Oregon trail

The beauty of TB is you can pick what threads to open and which ones not to. As excited as I am about my DS and current pregnancy, I have other interests and things I'd like to discuss. I also sometimes like to be goody and not so serious. I'd like to think if it's something someone doesn't want to read, they don't open it. It's really not a hard concept to get.

I love the random posts here! BUT, it would be nice if some of the post titles were a little more descriptive of the comments. There are so many posts here it would be nice to know what I'm getting myself into. At least warning signs of cake pics to come.... that would help. I can understand for the OP that it would be difficult to tell if she's opening a pregnancy thread or not.
