20 Week Scan, Help?

Hi ladies,

I had my 20 week scan a few hours ago. We saw they it's a boy!! Yay! We are so excited.

The scanner took a while lot of puctures if his bones, placenta (at the front of my stomach), brain etc. But couldn't get a good pic of face and he didn't move around too much.
She said at the end (she wasn't very chatty) that I will have to come in for a second scan, and wouldn't tell me why. She also wouldn't give me any good pictures to take home, or the video!!

I have to wait until Saturday until the report is sent through to my doctor and midwife to see how the baby is.

I'm a little worried cause I had been feeling a lot of fluttering until 2 weeks ago, and then it stopped. Midwife checked baby's heart beat and was 140 at the time , scan today was 142 as well.
I haven't really felt any kicks or anything yet.

This is our first baby, so If any of you ladies can shed some light I would appreciate it! Trying to keep positive here!

    Well the heart is beating, that's positive. I had to come back for my NT scan because baby wouldn't cooperate and they couldn't get the measures they needed...maybe same situation here.

    It's not uncommon to have to go back if they couldn't get the views/measurements they need. I have a friend whose on the third try to get a good look at the heart, and another who ended up have the Harmony test done because after 3 tries they couldn't get the right measurements at her NTScan. It's also very common for the sonographer to not tell you anything. It stinks, though, that they didn't give you any pictures!!

    They probably just couldn't get the pictures they needed due to the baby's positioning. I was going to have to go back for additional spine pictures but at the lady second the baby shifted so they were able to get more., the tech did say she wasn't sure they were sufficient still so they may need more.

    I have to have another because the tech couldn't get a clear picture of the heart. It sucks they didn't give you any photos or reassurance... my person told me she couldn't say "everything is fine" because she couldn't get that clear picture of the heart, but she assured us that the heart RATE is perfect and everything else is measuring right on schedule, so we shouldn't be surprised if my OB said we needed another ultrasound.

    My OB also explained that everything looks perfect, but she has to be able to "check all the boxes" and needed a good look at the heart to be able to do that. So I have another ultrasound in a few weeks and hopefully baby will be in a better position and not covering his/her chest with elbows! It doesn't seem uncommon at all! I don't think you have any reason to worry... sounds like your tech is just following the rules very strictly. Mine happened to be super chatty. :D

    My midwife called me just before and said that they couldn't see the heart or a good face shot, so they weren't able to tick all the boxes to say all is ok. So my mind is out at ease now! Am having another scan at 24 weeks, let's hope he's more awake and moving in a month.
