My parent's dog just had surgery last week to get some lumps removed from her chest. Vet just called yesterday evening and told parents she is cancer free, it was just some fatty tissue buildup. So I'm still feeling pretty darn relieved and happy about that this morning :-)
I love my job. After 4 years of being completely miserable, I just figured that I would never be someone who liked their job. I finally found a new job and I really really love it.
My sister is coming to visit me this week! It's perfect timing too - H is going away for work so now I don't have to be at the house alone.
I'm excited to hand out with my hubby and my crazy 2 year old. I have been way too involved in my work and although the money is nice, it's clear I need more balance. So I said screw it. Maybe go do something fall-ish. Who knows!

I actually really enjoy my job! I was furloughed over the summer and called back to another department and I'm thrilled I was switched.
This post makes me laugh because we have a co-worker who drives everyone nuts. She is incredibly rude and condescending. She won't tell her age (she's 61), she doesn't do any work, she is overweight so she will sit in a chair and not move come hell or high water, she is at least 15 minutes late every single day...she even told my boss that she's looking so big she doubts she makes it to Thanksgiving (she's due Dec 22). The point is- she is always saying to the students 'tell me something good!'. It's gotten to the point where we are just waiting for that line daily. I was scared it was her posting when I saw that!

I did my undergrad at Gettysburg College! I love Gburg. Have you been before?
I haven't! He has. We're both civil war buffs so we're doing all the historical stuff. Is there anything off the beaten path or not history-related we really need to see or do?

Your going to love it! I was in a '97 jeep..horn didn't work and neither did left turn signal...It had 13 miles when I took it home. It now has almost 200 miles!!! I'm obsessed with it. Enjoy it
You also reminded me of one of the other major reasons: the heat only works while accelerating - yeah, that's not going to work for me through a long Canadian winter! Congrats on your new ride - what did you end up getting?

I live about 45 mins away from Gettysburg! As far as I know, nothing too off the beaten path to do there besides touring the historical sites and battlefields. There's also a good outlet mall if you enjoy shopping. If you and H are into Halloween they will be having a ton of ghost tours. One of my close friends used to a tour guide on the battlefields and he says he has yet to see any activity, haha! Have fun, it's a neat little town!
DH and I are going to Hawaii in a week an a half for my last 20th birthday. I've never been, so I'm super excited. We're renting a convertible and we're just going to relax.
Confession- a package came for DH last week from a random person, since I get home first I usually get the mail. So I opened it, saw that it was a little jewelry box. I should have just closed it back up, but I opened the jewelry box as well. He got me a necklace I had pinned for my birthday. :x
We are headed to NYC this weekend. DH's family lives in Queens and we haven't been back to visit them since we adopted the dogs in March. We are celebrating DH's cousin's birthday and SD's birthday together so it'll be a weekend filled with food, cakes and gifts! We are also telling his fam about IVF this weekend.

I just read this thread and realized... I'm a love it whore. The first step is acceptance.
My "something good" is that I recently did the numbers and realized that aside from a mortgage we will be debt free sometime next year! I'm soooooo happy about that!
So happy for you! We've just started reading Dave Ramsey and I am so happy that we have a plan to be debt free in four-five years. So. Awesome.

@trawas01 Thanks so much!!! We already had reservations with ghosts of gettysburg, and were thinking of the dobbins house. Sounds like we were on the right track. :-)

I won a productivity contest at work so I get this Friday off, paid. I'm going to watch Real Housewives re runs and drink wine all day and have me-time and it's going to be glorious.
My dh and I have been together for almost 7 years and have gone away alone together once (our honeymoon). Friday we are are going to Gettysburg and renting a cabin for the weekend. I am so pumped.
I used to live about an hour away from Gettysburg and loved to visit.
I second PP and the Dobbin House is a neat place to eat. It also has good food. This may sound cheesy but the visitor center there is pretty neat. They have a really huge museum about all things Civil War. Its really neat how it is set up. And when we went it was free. Im assuming it still is.
My something good... We just paid off our two year old car! We are on the Dave Ramsey plan too. Also we are leaving for a week long vacay to Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg TN next week! This year has been crazy and we really need the break. We love going there and cant wait to take DD to the aquarium. She saw the pictures online and said "ish! Ish!" ( which means fish) she is going to love it.
@likeanoldtimemovie Dave Ramsey is awesome. We haven't purchased any of his products but I've seen a few of his video lessons (gave me great ideas on how to teach kids financial responsibility) and we are currently doing the debt snowball. It works wonders!
We havent bought anything either but I listen to his radio show almost every day. I listen/watch it on his app or on the ihearteadio app. You learn all you need to just doing that!
Interesting Gburg story... We went when I was a kid and were in the car driving along some of the battle fields. Another family we travel with was in their car behind us. We were looking out at one of the battlefields on the left of our car and saw a man dressed in battle gear, gun and all walking away towards the woods. We were talking to our friends about it, thinking it was a reenactor out on the field. When we talked to a guide later we learned that there were no enactments that week and no one is allowed on the battle fields.... Soooo, we saw a man no one else saw and that literally was not there. It was something I will never forget.
Something good... hmm... I dont have much to add this week guys. I love reading all of these though, definitely help lighten the mood.
@sister13 Have a great time in Sydney! We lived in Melbourne for 6 months in 2010. We visited Sydney for a weekend. Definitely go to the botanical gardens and look up into the trees--you'll see flying foxes which are these awesome, huge bats.

She's due for what?
My boss is due Dec 22. The co-worker we can't stand told my boss she looks so big she doesn't think she'll make it to Dec. 22!
Thanks @MeatandBandP and @jcsumm0 - I hadn't thought of the Botanical Gardens and that is something I usually like to do in new cities! Also looking forward to the beach. Now I'm excited for the conference to be over!

DH just got a job yesterday after being out of work for a month. He was unceremoniously fired from his last job and pretty upset about it, so I'm glad he found another one. He's so happy! Plus, not having to stress as much about money definitely helps.
My hubby told me that we can go on a kick ass vacation this summer if we don't get pregnant between now and then... So I will have something to look forward to either way!
My husband and I repair and restore old Volkswagens (Busses, Bugs, Squarebacks, etc) we just picked up a complete 1967 Squareback for free and took apart the engine and it doesn't seem to need any rebuilding so we get to put it back together this coming weekend and hopefully get it started. I've been working on the cosmetics(body and interior) for the past couple weeks and am SO excited to get it on the road since it's probably going to be my daily driver and I've been between cars and riding the train for the past month and a half. No one else will probably think this is cool, but I am super psyched.
And now I'll ad a picture of it, since I'm all excited and stuff.
This is what it looked like when we first went to check it out. Its the one on the right.
And this is what it looks like now after a bit of elbow grease:
Nothing huge, but we just had a really awesome weekend. We got some stuff done around the house, but had plenty of time to do a family movie night, help out my mom, go pumpkin picking, and go through a corn maze. It's one of the first times I've felt really relaxed and settled since buying a house, moving, selling a house, and getting married.
**siggy warning** **everyone welcome**
