Since everyone is talking about words and I'm sure walking will make another wave again. Lets go a pool :-)

  • I voted special snowflake because even though he will say a lot of words when prompted, he doesn't talk a lot on his own. He is good at signing. However, he doesnt walk or crawl, he scoots!

  • She says quite a few words in context, but the only ones that are very clear are hi, mama, daddy, ball and doggie ruff ruff. She is full on sprinting everywhere, walking backwards and kicking balls, my husband's included.

Well this is a downer for me.
Im sorry. All babies will eventually bet there. No one will know when they get to kindergarten or even college who did what first.
I wasnt trying to bring anyone down. All these posts about whose lo's can do what and comparison. I just thought it was easier to use a poll.

Exactly. I felt this way when everyone else's kid was rolling over and it took Kate until nearly 8 months to roll from her back to her tummy. And even though she was early to walk, she didn't start crawling until almost 10 months.
  • Vivian talks a bit (5-6 words) and toddles around everywhere she goes. Samuel is a little bit more talkative than Vivian (more like 10 words) but doesn't walk yet.

Aidan still does not say any words, but knows the sign for milk. When he's hungry, he goes to his high chair and whines. He is crazy good at walking though! :( am I doing something wrong, like not teaching him enough? I feel like he is so behind now... *edit* okay, he can say "daddy" but I'm not convinced he knows what it means.

Don't beat yourself. Some kids are more physically capable than verbally. Hell get there when he does don't let this poll make you queston your great mothering.

Let's all repeat this adopted and slaughtered mantra together:

When they walk through the front doors of kindergarten, none of this will matter.

We all have awesome kids, I wouldn't let a post like this or the words one get you down!  They will get there in their own time :)

    This!! Exactly :-)

  • I feel better knowing that I'm not the only one with a non-walker and non-talker.

Some kids like to take their time! Abby recently mastered "no", but doesn't say much of anything else. She crawls & cruises, but no walking yet.
Sometimes it bothers but he's such a fast crawler, I can't imagine him running around and trying to keep up.  I need to get in better shape :)
