First real boo boo :(

I know many kiddos on here have already taken pretty bad spills resulting in golf ball size lumps on their heads, but we've been lucky, as clumsy as this kid is.  Tonight he knocked his head right on the corner of the door jam, almost breaking through the skin. Cue instant swelling and bruising and a freaking out DH and mommy.  :(

We have already had him go to sleep and woke him up, he was fine. Had him play for a bit, walk around, he was smiling and laughing, and still had all his coordination like normal.  He had a snack and his sippy and then I put him to bed. All the while we tried to ice it as much as we could. So I think he's fine but anyone want to take bets on how many times I'm going to check on him tonight?

Reassurance please!

Re: First real boo boo :(

  • Last weekend DD got run over by a 4-year old boy.  She had ad big goose egg on her forehead and a scraped up face.  Then this past weekend she fell off the back of the couch and hit her head.  I worried the entire afternoon. Both times I did the same thing about checking on her.  I have a feeling these toddler years are going to cause me to go gray.

I am sure he is fine but as a mom we cannot help ourselves to check on them.

  • Poor guy! I'm sure he'll be fine. Try to get some rest tonight.

  • If it makes you feel any better it is a miracle if Wyatt doesn't have a bruise or a black eye. The kid falls ALL the time. He doesn't get the concept of going around something..... like the kitchen table.

  • It happens. Last weekend was the Ouchie Olympics at our house. B inhaled bath water, smacked her head on the floor, and up chucked a bit of lunch out her nose. I was beside myself. We've had a full day without incident but boy did that make me retreat further into my one and done camp!

  • Thanks ladies!  He woke up this morning and seriously looks like he is 60-70% recovered. The swelling is barely noticeable and he only has a small bruise. It's crazy how fast these kids heal!
