1. I legit had no idea so many people used only pads on the reg. What's not to like about tamps?
2. Also am surprised by how many people flush tampons. I have never done that. I don't know if it's because of where I live or what. Septic tank horror stories....
3. Y U put a used tampon in a drawer instead of taking 30 seconds to dispose of it properly?!?!?
On one hand I want @funnibunni80 to come back and explain how her husband doesn't notice what is happening, but on the other I don't want her to talk about it again at all.
This has been the same thought running through my head this afternoon....I don't get how he wouldn't notice...among other things

::snip::
I had to snip out the rest because I don't feel like reliving what I read earlier. I actually like the idea of tampons, but I've tried a variety of them and I always feel them when I'm walking around. Maybe it's all in my head, but it's awkward. So wearing them while I sleep works best for me.
Straight tampons. Pads are for post birth until my doc gives me the all clear. As for random sex, I wrap it in tissue, and leave it in the sex drawer until after we're done and I hit the bathroom anyway. He doesn't need to know. Although, now having an actual period... this may be an issue. We'll see!

Makes sense- and I'll say the first couple of times I tried them, I could feel them and it was uncomfortable. It took me a few cycles before I finally got it in right I guess, lol, because once it was in correctly I was like, "So THIS is why they are awesome!" Lol.
I had a friend who didn't know how to use one correctly for several years. Apparently she skipped the part in the directions where you insert the applicator until your fingers are touching your body, then press the tampon in. She was always just pushing it in from the outside. Oops!!
I use the soft cups too. They totally freaked me out too, but one day I was at my parent's house and started unexpectedly and it was all my step mom had. I was desperate enough to get over the weirdness and I have never gone back. Seriously they are so amazing. I used to get sore and almost like chaffed from tampons, with softcups I don't even feel like I'm wearing anything.
Where do you get the diva cups? I am willing to try anything that has changed someones life.
I used to only use tampons until I had to push my child and her huge head out. Now they just don't fit right and start to hurt. One of those things no one ever tells you about having a baby.
I voted ss, since I use all three at different times. I love my diva cup, but I'm uncomfortable emptying it in public restrooms for obvious reasons, so then I use tampons with a thin pad backup because I am so paranoid about leakage. I tried the softcup, but the ring part of it is uncomfortable to me, it makes me kind of achey so I don't like them, even though I still have a few left so I'll use them up at some point.
And add me to the club of not flushing tampons. I always had it drilled into me at high school (old plumbing) and at home growing up (we lived in the country with our own septic) that it was super bad to do that so I've never had the guts to do it. I have thoughts of backing up the toilet with a tampon. (shudder!)
Pads and tampons, the term 'crimson wave' is unfortunately apt in my case. I am tempted to give the Diva Cup a go but am a little apprehensive about it.
Took me a month to get the positioning correct so I had to wear liners at first but now I have the it down.
It took me a little while too, I think that's the only difficult thing. But 2-3 cycles after? It was life changing, I don't know why I didn't know about it before.
Plus it's green (no garbage produced) and it saves me money each month.

@tealowl - hot dog style insertion made me laugh for like 5 min.....that is hilarious!
don't worry...my mom didn't tell me anything either. She just threw me a tampon, the instructions and told me not to tell people that I was on my period
