He feels like his lifestyle and finding the love of his life is a lot more limited there. He wants to move to a coastal state. We tried to get him to Portland, but apparently Portland is kind of shitty for accountants. He's lived in Iowa and Minnesota his whole life.

I'm 24. I never got into drinking at all, because I didn't like what I saw in my sisters when they got drunk and I was afraid I'd be as psychotic as the one, or as stupid as the other.

That understandable. I'm 24 too, but I like bars. My mom is an alcoholic so I try to keep it under control.

Hi! I mostly lurk on here, but I really wanted to let you know I love your writing. I missed the first chapter, but this second one was more than enough to pull me in. I'm excited to read more.

Oh, and I will take a stab at the symbolism even though I am nervous about being wrong (I'm a perfectionist and hate being wrong)....in the last scene Ian's silhouette resembles a cross, or Jesus on the cross, and perhaps them coming out of the shelter is like a rebirth?
