Yet another stroller question - do you use more than one?

We registered for a Kolcraft Contours Optima Tandem
Someone gave us a double snap n go

I see uses for both - obviously you can't use the d sng without infant seats, so the Contours Optima would be necessary later. But I do like the idea of the DSNG for a quick trip to the grocery store or somewhere we wouldn't need a full stroller.

My husband is livid that we got the DSnG - he feels like we wont need it with the Contours, and he feels rude returning it for a gift card towards our #1 choice stroller. I have a feeling we will appreciate having it!

  • We have the baby jogger city select and dsng. We have yet to use the dsng. The city select works great with the car seats. I'm glad we got the dsng used and not brand new since we have yet to use it.

  • We have the contours and the DSNG. Even if I had my optima before they were out of the infant carriers, I would have never used it. You either have to get them out of their carseats to put them in the stroller OR attach the carseat adapters to the optima and then strap the carseat in.

Plus, the DSNG is SO SO SO much lighter and you don't have to attach anything to the strollers before you put the carseats on.

My H didn't like using the DSNG either so he kept the "big" stroller in his car and I used the DSNG for my car.

Agree with this. I have the contours too and you'd have to use 2 adapters, which essentially makes it a dsng. I'd keep both. The dsng was great in the beginning. You could always sell it once you're done using it and put it towards something else.

  • My twins are almost 3. I've owned a lot of strollers. Started with the DSNG, then moved to the BJCS with the seats. Got a double jogger when they were about 6 months old (Baby Jogger City Series) and a double umbrella (Combi). There is no one size fits all stroller and we've used them all over the years. I sold the DSNG when they were about 6 months old and I haven't touched the Combi in a year (too flimsy and hard to push with bigger kids) but we still use the City Select and jogger on a pretty regular basis.

If I had gotten the BJCS at the beginning with the car seat adapters (similar to the Contours) I may not have needed the DSNG but it was good to have. It was super lightweight and folded small.

  • DSNG was the way to go from newborn until they were 4 months old. Mine were long and their feet didn't fit with the other seat. We bought the BJCM GT which is amazing and so worth it. I also recommend 2 cheap umbrella strollers- I carry my lighter twin and push the heavier one into daycare. The best gift for their first Xmas was the Radio Flyer wagon, we use that bc they prefer it in our neighborhood.
  • I have the chicco double which I use to go shopping. DSNG for the doctors office and quick trips. I have a double jogging stroller that I used with my older boys that I will use for walks and park etc. I like variety.

  • My husband was/is also horrified at the number of strollers we've accumulated (we had a singleton first).

The DSNJ was very handy for the first 6 months. As was already mentioned, it's so much lighter than a conventional stroller and takes up less space in the car.

  • I can't comment.  I have 6 (yes, SIX) strollers.  My H calls them my addiction.  I find different strollers are better in different situations.  A DSNG is very convenient at first, but a hardier stroller will work better later on.

  • We have the Baby Jogger City Select. We will probably get a double umbrella stroller when they're a bit older. I talked to several twin moms who said tandem is nice in beginning and side by side once they're older.
  • We have the Chicco cortina double. The car seats snap right in and then we can use it for when they are bigger. We wanted a jogging stroller and ended up buying an awesome double stroller from REI. It's super light weight and way more compact than the BOB. I can easily swivel it with one hand. It has attachment wheels for walking, all terrain wheels for jogging which is great since we live at the beach, plus an attachment to pull it behind a bike. I highly recommend it. It was more than we had planned on spending but it'll be worth it.
  • The REI stroller is called a Chariot.
  • Thank you so much for all of the input!! I will keep the tags on the DSNG until we practice with our car seats and decide whether we will need it or not! :)

  • My twins will be 10 months next weekend and we still use the DSNG. We also have a City Select we use on occasion and will use exclusively in about a month when they grow out of their car seats. We could have bought the 2 sets of car seat adapters for the city select but the DSNG is so easy and light and it would have cost the same anyway.  I highly recommend the DSNG and you could always sell it once they grow out of their infant car seats.

*sorry, I was thinking of the city mini, not the select. I see how two infant seats attach to that one.

For the life of me I can't figure out how to put two infant seats on the city select. Can someone help guide me to which attachment it is?
