Well after going for my 39week0day checkup on 10/15 doctor said NST and ultrasound showed that baby just wasn't moving like she should be so we were inducing that day. Went in an hour later at 3:45'ish, had to go get DH from painting babies room. (Yeah nursery still isn't finished) I got to the hospital and they got me right in a room, placed and IV and fetal monitors as well as a cardiac monitor for me, I have SVT's.
After an hour of monitoring still slow baby movement but HR was normal around 132, they gave me IV pitocin started at 5:15pm. I was 4cm and 70% effaced. At 8:30 (shift change) they came in and checked me again 6cm and 75%; it was annoyingly slow. I was having contractions but not super painful just slightly crampy. Like mild-moderate menstral cramps. Stayed this way until 4:00am check, which would be 10/16; I was now 7cm and 90%. They increased my pitocin dose; being allergic to all the Caine family medications an epidural wasn't an option. However, my doctor wrote for IV delauted if requested. Knowing I was progressing I tried to hold off, which was semi successful. That is until my doctor did his 9am rounds. He came in checked me, and said I was steady at 7cm and 90% so he was gonna break my water to try to speed things up. He did so and about 15 minutes later the pain was surely there and strong. Contractions were painful a 6/7 on the 10 scale for sure. At 11am they checked again and still a 7cm but "loose" as it was describe and 100% effaced. Nurse said she would give me pain meds if ready and I jumped on it. I needed to relax, and I couldn't. Once I got the IV meds I was able to get some sleep. They came in at 1:45 to check me and said I was a 9cm and 100% effaced. She asked if I'd like to do a practice push to make sure I was able to bare down properly or if she could instruct me better. Well during my practice push LOs head was very low and started to show DHs face showed just how much for sure. Nurse told her CNA to call my doctor and get him there now, within 15 minutes he was there and they were prepping me with iodine and lubricant while he gowned up. Two pushes later he told me to stop snipped me a couple of times (3 according to DH) and one last push and baby Aryana was out. Delivered at 1412 hrs on 10/16/2013. She weighed 7lbs 5oz, and was 18.5" long. With some pretty precious hair.
We stayed in the hospital for 28 hours and got to come home yesterday at 6:00pm and baby Aryana had her first pediatric visit today. She was down to 6lbs 10oz so doctor has requested that I supplement and pump to monitor her intake. I think this is what I am having my BIGGEST problem with. Just wish I was good enough to be enough for my babygirl. I feel like I don't want to feed her formula but I don't want to starve her either by any means. It's tearing me in two most of the time since her appointment today.
My episiotomy is the worst part, it's sore as all get out and often burns. I don't know what to do to make it better. I'm alternating between Tylenol and Motrin but it's really not doing much anymore. One day at a time I guess,
Re: She came early... PIP Mom2Ary
Don't trust him on the "pumping to see how much she's getting." You can't measure it that way. The pump doesn't work as well as the baby can suck - especially in the beginning when your milk is coming in.
Hope you heal up quickly!
