DH and I have a terrible time agreeing on girl names. ::sigh:: it's going to be a long process. It's a good thing we have 20+ weeks to keep brainstorming.
What style names do you guys like? Have you used the baby name wizard or any other sites?
DH and I like different style names. I like names like Charlotte, Amelia, Olivia (he hates them) and boy/girl names (Avery is DD's name but it took me forever to come around to it - and we chose the -ie spelling). He likes names like Kenzie (gag) for girls.
ETA I'm getting ready to search baby names wizard, thank you.
There was a Blakely on The Bachelor that was terribly annoying. If it wasn't for her, I think I'd like the name. Of course, it only matters what you & your DH think!
I don't think it sounds like a crazy name. You're not naming her after a fruit or a car, nor is it spelled oddly or too far out there. I think you have to go with what you like. There will always be nay-sayers. I always like to say the first and last name together to see how it sounds. It might sound lame, but I always think of names that catch my attention (in a good way) when I'm reviewing resumes.
I've always liked it! As a team we're more into traditional names, mostly because thinking forward to when she's an adult Blakely doesn't sound like a terribly serious businesswoman or senator, for instance, but I think the name itself is adorable. If it's your style, then totally go for it!
A friend of mine just named her daughter Blayklee Blair. I'm not a huge fan but to each their own.
I was going to suggest the names Blair , Blythe, or Britt.
I don't mind Blakely- especially if a daughter is being named after a family surname- but I can not stand strange spellings like Blayklee. Your friends choice of spelling reminds me of the way Claudia Kishi used to spell in The Babysitters Club.

I agree with this. And for some reason I also think of Elizabeth Berkley in Showgirls. But I have no idea why...never even seen the movie.

If you ask me what I came to do in this world, I, an artist, I will answer you:
OP, Blakely is NMS and I also thought immediately of Blake Lively. That said, at least it's spelled correctly
Have you tried putting each of your two picks into Name Wizard at the same time and seeing what pops up that might meld your two styles?
Eta: two, not too. Derp.
