DS's 5th bday theme is Batman. DS said in April that he either wanted a Batman or Superhero theme, and a week later we found Batman stuff in the $1 section at Target. So Batman it was. We got a bunch of Batman themed stuff for favors.
Or so I thought. I just now found the stuff, and all I got was mini tote bags, puzzles, stamps, and sticker books for 8. Seeing the stuff is jogging my memory, and I remember I originally had enough for 12, and thought there was no way there would be that many kids as it's mostly just family, and 8 will be more than enough. There will be 11 kids. And I originally also had Batman pencil pouches, Batman pencils, Batman notebooks, and other items, but then decided to cut back, because all those $1 items add up fast.
Ugh. Just ugh. There's 7 boys and 4 girls, so I'm just going to get something different for the girls. Any ideas for the girls? I saw Wonder Woman cups for $1 at Walmart a couple weeks back, hopefully they're still there. And some more items to spruce up everyone's? I was thinking yellow silly string. And I plan to have dark chocolate covered pretzels with yellow drizzle for everyone as a favor, adults included.
Re: NBFR DS's Bday Vent-ish
First of all, I know you are sweating about goody bags, but most kids don't care after the party is over!
I would go with either Wonder woman, or if there are any female Marvel or Avengers characters.
DC's bday is in winter, so no parks. Instead, they will watch a movie related to theme & will do an indoor activity also related (but will be something they can take home). Fun, simple, an no very annoying toys for other parents to deal with.
Also, I buy cupcakes in addition to the cake, one for each child, they get their own cups & special drink as well.
Yeah! I think the sticker books and puzzles are great! Edible stuff would be too, I'd just limit the amount especially so close to Halloween, but that's just me personally. That's why I do the cupcakes
Silly string fight before they leave is a good idea too! So they get the 'really awesome silly string' but like you said no mess for parents.
I have been thinking of doing a water gun paint fight. I was inspired by pinterest, and I think water and food coloring will make safe ammo for a dollar store water pistol. I would provide smocks for everyone though. Then the kids could take home their water gun.
Or decorating Christmas ornaments to keep and take home. Or maybe pine cones.
I would rather my child participate in an activity than being home ask that useless junk that is going to break layer that day. After a party I am always trying to sneak the bag away from him to get rid of it.
So must functions we do are just the four of us, MIL, SFIL, GIL, and one of H's cousins and her 6yo son.

She may be a self entitled little girl but she makes a deal with the devil for love. That makes everything okay....
So I had to go back and re read this because at first I thought you said your son said that and I was like but wait isn't he kind of young to get all of that from The Little Mermaid? Haha. Oh and since we have watched it more times than I can count since my mom got it for LO this month, she's a sea witch not the devil...not sure if that makes it any better haha
