Today's UOs inspired me to ask:
Does anyone have any phobias? If so do you have any creative ways of dealing with it?
I'm absolutely terrified of bees and wasps. I break out into cold sweats, my heart goes a million miles a minute, I can't function if I see one. It's quite debilitating really, I'm actually scared to go out in the summer because of it (of course, I still do though). I'm really worried that if I don't get it under control it's going to have a negative affect on LO and she'll develop the same irrational fear. Thoughts?

Re: Phobias
Also, this may sound really weird...but short super buff guys remind me of thumbs. I get weird when I'm around one. Judge me.
I have no ways of dealing with phobias, sorry.
My older sister dumped a sandbox pale of garter snakes on me when we were really little. Now if i see one all i think off is all those snakes crawlung all over me.
The only way i can be around snakes is if im drunk off my ass. Not creative and not a great way to deal. This is why bf isnt allowe to have pet snakes.
Also jumping on the spider phobia train. Hate them. The other day it was just me and LO and there was a spider. I had to be rationale about it but I was literally freaking out inside when I hate to kill it. Then it crunched. Yuk! :-S
Eye stuff is what freaks me out. I can't tolerate having my eye touched. When I go to the optometrist it takes a couple people to hold me down so they can put that poking thing in my eye. No contacts here!
My closet, an my kids closets have to be completely closed at night. Sometimes I even check after putting them to bed
My feet have to be covered and can absolutely never stuck out over the bed. Dh does this just to freak me out
Yup, I am an adult with 5 kids!

OaD August siggy challenge- fav show that's off the air:
And cheese. It freaks me out. For real.
Mine is Dying, I have insane panic attacks to where I have had to pull over when I think into the fact that one day it WILL happen and there is nothing I can do about it. It's prob going to get worse since now I need to be here for LO. Live each day as if it was your last!!
The deer thing I think stems from driving in the winter. I've never been in an accident, but I'm terrified that I'll be driving, the roads are slippery, and a deer will run out in front of me. Completely terrifies me.
I don't know where the falling backwards thing is from, but I can't climb ladders, or go on a roller coaster, or climb stairs without this fear that I'm going to fall backwards. Weird, I know.
I agree with PP. It's the lack of control. I also hate all the different noises.
When I was a camp counselor, one of the kids chased me with a bottle and I was running and screaming and started crying.
I really hope LO doesn't turn into one of those kids who eats ketchup on everything. I can't handle squirting it and washing it up every day ::shudders::

Facing my fear (sober) is the thing that has helped the most.
Uncooked chicken. Seriously. Freaks the crap out of me. I can touch it but only with gloves on.. The thought of it makes me cringe. The bleach comes out after it's been touched as well. Like a thorough good bleach job.
I always warn people when they come over though that he's there, just in a locked tank.
