Do you pick up after yourself and kids?? I went shopping with a friend and her baby and I offered her Cheerios to keep her DD happy. I went to hand them to the mom so she could monitor them, but she said to just give them to DD because she could care less if they spill all over Target, and that is exactly what happened. Walking behind her, I heard a crunch under my feet and they we're all over the carpet. I was embarrassed, but didn't want to make a scene or "undermine" her by picking them up. I, personally, do not think that is acceptable... Especially at restaurants, I pick up our mess. What do you do? Am I being anal?

Re: Creating Messes in Public
I've been with moms in a mom group that do not care at all. They feel it's the job of the employees to clean up. These same moms have let their kids make messes in other peoples houses too. It's even rumored that 2 moms got kicked out of a local library because they let their kids throw books all over the kids area.
I think it's disrespectful.
I always do, but yeah, we really only run into messes at restaurants.
That being said, I've been a server, and it never really bothered me when children were messy. Such is life.
Restaurants: We tidy up as much as we can for the server.
Target? Yeah, that is rude. And like @sjandv said, people who are that flippant about other people at stores are probably just as much so if they go to peoples houses. And the library thing? wow. I mean, if I let him Emery would pull down all the books! But I DON'T LET HIM!
whenever i go to my Dr's office, J always wrecks their children's play area. I always clean up before we leave. It's responsible.
