Have we talked about this biatch yet?

https://www.nydailynews.com/life-style/health/mom-3-called-bully-excuse-fitness-photo-article-1.1487278 Honestly, I think she's obnoxious. Good for her, but this would be like me posting a pic of me nursing my twins with the same caption. Obnoxious.

  • I saw her on the today show. She's shallow and a bully.

Agreed - it's just another mompetition I don't plan to participate in.

I didn't see her interview so I have no live glimpse into her personality, however, I must say her statement about how we interpret the photo is our fault and not hers is 100% valid. People are calling her a bully, but what about all the people shaming her for being proud of her accomplishment? I'm sorry, but I don't believe taking time to get in shape so I have the energy to play with my son is wrong. It was something she posted on her own FB page and I hate when people start attacking others for what they put out there. If you don't like it then unfriend her or block her posts, people! This shouldn't be national news. Why don't we go back to focusing on something that really matters in this country.

    *endrant* :-L

ETA: I should've added what this picture first said to me: you CAN get in shape after having a baby, so don't give up hope. Just keep trying. I did NOT look at this picture and see it in any negative form.
  • I'd also like to ask her how many books she read this month. My number is 6 and my book club meets tomorrow night at my house.

  • Ps. I would never judge another mom for wanting to make her body look nice and healthy. It's the accompanying saying that chaps my buns.

Agreed. If she said, "I've worked hard to get this body, and I'm proud of it" I would have high fived her.
  • "What's your excuse?" is a common motivational phrase in the fitness world. For example, would you find this image offensive and bullying? She didn't invent the phrase on her own, I believe she is just trying to motivate a new group of people: Moms.
  • Its awesome that she prioritizes a healthy lifestyle. I think we all probably have something we do awesome aside from parenting. Maybe we volunteer, or kick ass at work, or have pinterest style parties, or whatever. She should be proud of those abs. I'm proud I'm presenting at a big conference today. I just think it sucks when we act like our thing is better or more important than someone else's thing. Maybe she is trying to be a motivator but I didn't ask for her motivation. I run half marathons and eat healthy but I will never look like her and I'm OK with that.

  • I guess because this has gone viral on the internet, everyone has an opinion on it, but this is something she posted on her own Facebook page. Honestly, I will not strive to look like she does, but I don't think there's anything wrong with her being proud of what she's done. I have a friend from nursing school who is going into competition for body building and she is receiving so much hate from people and I think it's really sad.....I think we all do the best we can and this just contributes more to mommy wars, no matter which side you agree with.......why do you care what some random stranger says on the internet?

@mrsjillb Your title - yes.  It was discussed yesterday.  I think under the post "Really", if I can remember correctly

    Edit: Here you are

Oh dang it, I'm always behind the curb on stuff like this.

  • Not a look I aspire for. She is too thin and wears too much make up for my taste. I am working on getting in shape, but I am going at my pace. My top priority is to feed the baby now, not to fit into smaller jeans. I am only in competition with myself in this regard. Her back story is she struggles with an eating disorder, so I'm sure that is in play here.

  • I didn't read the story but it showed up in my fb newsfeed with her picture. She sucks and I want to punch her based on the picture.

  • I think her accomplishments are impressive, especially if what she says about not having a nanny, battling genetic disposition (to be overweight, I'm guessing?), etc are true.

My issue is just that this is just one more thing that pressures and guilts women to have that "perfect body".  I don't think it's healthy to promote obesity because it very obviously causes serious health problems.. but the attitude of the picture wasn't that great either.  Women go through a lot of changes during pregnancy and postpartum.  You would think a fellow female would get that.

  • I saw this on FB and rolled my eyes. My excuse is that I don't feel like I have to live up to the western, patriarchal, demeaning and narrow minded opinion of what a beautiful woman looks like.

  • I wasn't offended when I saw this. Sure I can see how the caption is a bit condescending but like pp said it's a common phrase in the fitness industry.
