Searching for the silver lining...

Between ugly cries last night, I was in the bathroom and realized that I've made a good habit of washing and moisturizing my face every night (which started because I was beginning to get a wicked case of pregnancy acne in 2nd-tri). It dawned on me that I've picked up a couple good habits that I hope I keep up once LO arrives. Another has been deliberately parking in the way back of the lot, in an attempt to get some sort of exercise into my day. And taking vitamins (gummies, FTW!)

Any good habits you're hoping to keep?

(I'm asking this, in large part, to find a shred of silver lining in the last few days of pregnancy. Because otherwise, all I do is cry.)

  • I "TRY" to make healthier choices with food, it doesn't always work but I try.

  • I'm going to keep taking iron supplements. I used to crave ice all the time. I knew it was a sign of low iron, but I didn't really think much of it. Ever since I started taking the supplements, I've had zero interest in ice. I think I was way more deficient that I realized.

  • I've gotten into the habit of keeping the house totally picked up, all laundry done and all dog hair wrangled at all times. I'm terrified to bring baby home to a messy, furry house for some reason. I am well aware that this will all fall apart in the first few weeks, but I'm enjoying it so far.
  • Taking a multi vitamin . . . not apologizing for needing to rest. That's about it.

  • Since I have no idea when I'll go into labor, the last couple of weeks we've tried to keep the house as clean as possible so we don't have a sink full of dirty dishes, cluttered counter tops, etc when we go to the hospital. Also I don't want the house to be a pigsty when people come over to visit those first few days. Like PP said, I'm sure it won't last very long once I have a needy newborn at home, and I probably won't give a darn either, but I don't have an excuse not to do it right now.

I want this habit! I keep trying to get there, but I don't think it's happening. Every time I put something away, something else materializes in its place. Ugh. I'm going to go do dishes now.

  • Eating better, for sure. As much as I hate the GD diet, I lost weight during this pregnancy. As of yesterday, my weight is back to where I started, but at 9 months pregnant, I don't think that's so bad. So I plan on sticking with the low-carb thing as much as possible, although I'll be happy that I can treat myself once in awhile without cheating anymore.

  • Giving myself permission to chill out. I'm type A and usually super busy, my DH loves the new chiller me so I'm hoping I can hold onto that!

Exactly all of this. I've become obsessed with keeping the dishes clean, so a funk isn't left if we have to leave at the drop of a hat. I wouldn't mind if DH took up that habit after LO arrives. ;)

  • I did so many more kegals while pregnant. Since I have had my LO, I am doing more. Now, I can actually feel my muscles contracting again a little after a week which is great since I had a nasty tear down there.
  • Taking daily vitamins for sure! Also, cleaning the house more regularly.
