GTKY: Pet Peeves

What are some of your pet peeves? Bad grammar/spelling? People who don't use coasters? Dirty socks all over the place?

Hubby picks at the dry skin on his feet and it drives me nuts! I even went and got him a super cream for them to help with the dryness but he doesn't use it and don't stop. Ugh. *shudder*

  • People who don't drive the speed limit, especially in the left lane of the freeway.

People who wait until the last possible second to merge into a lane that they know is ending (I don't let them over if I can help it)

  • Loading the player...
  • I only have a few that drive me truly bonkers. Some of the random ones are crumbs on the counter, the pantry door being left open, people who use FB as BragBook lol.

  • I agree with your/you're (and there/they're/their) and the merging at the last second, especially in construction zones.

It's stupid, but it annoys me when people use thousands of exclamation points in a professional email (exaggeration, but only slightly). I work with a woman that uses exclamation points in extreme excess and it drives me crazy. Hi!!!! Happy Wednesday!!! Hope you're having a great week!!!!!!!!! Ughhhhhh.

  • People that don't know how to google something.

Blankets/sheets not being straight when I try to sleep.

People that truly believe adding a piece of lettuce to a nasty greasy burger makes it healthy.  (Or something similarly moronic.)

    Littering.

Hearing/feeling people breathe.  I can't sleep at night if I can hear myself breathing.  Having a cold is torture because I also can't stand breathing through my mouth.  If I'm sitting next to h and I can feel him breathing it's one of the grossest things ever.  You have a whole room.  Get off me.

You should just ask her if her key is getting stuck and straight faced suggest ways to fix it, like how to clean a keyboard or something.

  • Littering.

Also this one drives me nuts - when there is a large line of people waiting to check out and a new cashier comes along and yells, "I can help whoever is next" and someone who is clearly NOT the next person in line goes to that newly opened line.

When I was a cashier I was trained to walk up to the next person in line and say directly to them, "I can help you at register x" to prevent pissed off customers.

  • Grammar here, too.  You're/your and too/two/to being my biggest peeves. Also when someone says congrads? "Congrads on your pregnancy!" wtf is that word? There's no d in that word.

Picking nose in public. I saw that this morning while I was driving to the market- a lady was picking her nose at the light. Newsflash- you have windows. And buy a tissue. Nasty.

Also people in the market who leave their carts in the middle of the aisles while looking and getting their products, like they own the aisle.

  • Crinkly bags.  I hate the noise of someone digging their hand in a chip bag or just messing around with a plastic bag.  It drives me insane!

  • Posting about your L&D on Facebook. A general rule of thumb should be that anything you find out after someone puts his/her hand in your vag should be left off Facebook.

Questions about if you should worry if you have no pregnancy symptoms.
  • Grammar here too. My husband's family has TERRIBLE grammar and it drives me nuts. His sister is constantly posting run-on sentences on Facebook. You have to like squint to figure out what the hell she is trying to say. It's so annoying. Oh, and I don't think they have ever used the word eaten in their lives. They use ate instead. Ugh. I'm getting fired up thinking about it.

I hate bad phone etiquette in general:  being on the phone while at the counter/register, talking to someone else while you are on the phone, messing with your phone while someone is trying to talk to you in person, doing anything on your phone at the dinner table, etc.
  • Poor grammar is a huge one for me.  I'm also on board with the driving under (or even at) the speed limit in the fast lane.  I'm sensitive to sounds so teeth on a fork or fork on a plate drives me nuts!

People who take twenty minutes to convey a message that should be wrapped up in about twenty seconds.  (Work gripe...)

Smacking, ugh... that should be outlawed, but ESPECIALLY in the presence of nauseated pregnant women.

Someone else said the shower curtain being left open... so glad I'm not alone with that one! :)

  • I have a whole laundry list of things that make me crazy! I'll just share a few...

    1. People who drive in the passing lane and go slower than the cars in the right lane. It's not a cruising lane A-hole, move out of my way!

    2. The misuse of "your, you're", "they're, their, there".

    3. People who let their dogs shit in public and can't be bothered to pick it up.

    4. The cracking of necks, backs, elbows, ankles, fingers, and anything else that can pop (DH does this all the time, and I can't stand the sound).

    5. People who don't use turn signals.

One time I sat and waited patiently for a lady to move.  Then I said "excuse me."  She did not even acknowledge I was there.   At all.  So I moved her cart. (She was holding onto it.)  She got all huffy with me like I was the one being rude.

I hate the your/you're confusion. "Your welcome" is offensive to me. ;)

My biggest pet peeve would probably be whistling. I HATE WHISTLERS. It makes me really angry. I can't explain it.

Oh, another one- people who let dogs lick their feet. Not just one lick, but when they sit there, just letting them go to town.  EEWWWW. I love my pups, but licking feet? Come on. Disgusting.

OMG. I fucking hate it SO much when people whistle. Like they just go about their tasks whistling like some kind of weirdo. It drives me so insane. But I always figured it stemmed from the fact that I can't whistle lol.
I'm not the greatest whistler either- Are we bitter?

    I don't care - I still effing hate it!! :)

Hahaha! I forgot how much I hate this. DH's boss used to whistle on his way to the copier (we worked together) and it would drive me insane!
  • I am very easily annoyed, so I have a lot.

My husband always leaves doors/drawers open, lights on, etc.  Drives me nuts

When people are totally oblivious to the world around them, in the grocery store, while driving, or any other public place.  If I want to get by, move your ass!  The world does not revolve around you!

When people drive under the speed limit then they go through a yellow light and I get caught at it!

Another driving one:  When people play "roadblock" with another car.  (When they are going to same speed as the car in the next lane, and usually under the speed limit.)  This is especially annoying when the 2nd car is a cop and everyone refuses to pass him even though he's driving slow!!!  Ugh.

Whistling also drives me nuts.  Hurts my ears.
