I just need to vent a bit.

There's a pitbull at the local shelter who has been there far too long. He's going "kennel crazy" - losing weight, circling the kennel, etc. He's such a sweet boy and good with all animals. He thinks he's a lap dog and is super mellow.

I posted his picture and info on Craigslist in the pets section because I've had good luck getting the shelter more exposure there.

Well, I just got an email from a guy that said "Gas that fucking useless pitbull."

You know what, dickhead? Fuck off. I thank you for your concern and empathy for other living beings.

I just can't believe how disgusting some people are.

That's just rude as hell, and nasty for him to send that to you. Pit bulls are so hated, but I think under certain circumstances any animal will misbehave. I hope the dog finds a home soon.

Craigslist people are crazy. I posted my cat on craigslist because we are moving and can't take him with us. Some lady wrote me and told me I was a horrible person.

What a complete ass!! It's not the damn dogs fault, and I really believe that any dog could be just as vicious as they make this poor breed out to be. Our local shelter has a ton of pits and pit mixes and it just breaks my heart.

Just an FYI, we had a story on our local news the other night about how it's not a good idea to post your pet or any pet for that matter on craigslist. Apparently there are a lot of crazies out there that stalk the pets page, they will get these animals and then torture and kill them. A shelter had a dog that this happened to and they tried everything to save it but it's injuries were just too severe. I just don't understand how people can be so freaking cruel.

People's hate for bully breeds infuriates me. Our dog is a pitbull/doberman mix we resuced from a shealter when he was 9 months old. He is the most passive lovable dog I have ever been around. He doesn't even bark. Other dogs can be barking like lunatics while we are out and he will just look at them and tilt his head to the side like what's all the fuss. (In 6 years of owning him I had never once heard him bark until DS arrived. He will now let out a warning bark if he feels DS needs protected)

He is amazing with DS and has only ever shown complete protectiveness for him. If my husband is not home and someone comes to the door he will let out one bark and immediately stand in front of DS. If other dogs are around he will always make sure he is between them and DS. If DS isn't around then he hides behind me.

Pitbulls are not inherently agressive or mean. If you look up their History they were orginally breed as family dogs and are known to be extremely good with children. Assholes started breeding them to fight because of their build and the "locking" strength of thier jaws. But even the majority of Pits that are taught to fight show aggression towards other animals only and not humans.

This topic really fires me up if you can't tell!

Isn't that Craigslist animal abuse business sickening? I also read a couple articles about that. Just FYI, people would come to the shelter after seeing a dog I posted on CL and fill out the shelter app, pay a decent fee and in some cases, get a home check so I wasn't handing over dogs directly.

My sis has 2 rescue pit bulls- they are so super sweet. One of them recently had puppies and just had the last one adopted!

I had a beagle when I was younger that attacked me for no reason. I was watching TV with the babysitter and it hopped the babygate to get to me. My parents had to get rid of him because of the safety risk since it was an unprovoked attack and they didn't want to take the chance that it would happen again (I was 4 & 1/2).

We didn't get another dog until I was 15. My sister came home with a pitbull puppy. I was skeptical but she was the best dog! She must have thought she was part cat too. She would lay on your lap and would sleep under the covers. I never saw her growl or snap at anyone or any other animal (we also had a cat).

Based on my history I would get a pitbull over a beagle but I'd never want a beagle to be put down just because its a beagle. Not every dog in a breed is "bad". We just got a crazy one.

We have a beagle and she has to be the biggest baby I think I have ever seen! She is absolutely terrified of small dogs. I was really worried how she would do when LO came along cause she has never been around kids. She has been by his side from day one and when there is something wrong with LO and he's upset, she is absolutely beside herself with anxiety. They are together all the time and I'm so glad she has taken to him like she has.

I agree though, not all beagles are like the one you had. I just think some dogs have issues that sometimes can't be fixed. I read an article once that was talking about pitbulls and how vicious they are. The writer interviewed several vets and other animal professionals and they all said that you are more likely to get bit/attacked by a smaller dog like a chihuahua than you are a pitbull. I just think it's really sad that these poor dogs have targets on their backs like they do and I think the media normally doesn't help the issue but makes it worse.

Stupid people. It's all how a dog is raised any dog can be mean and any can be super sweet. I have a part Rottie and she's gentler than any dog you'd imagine.

Oh my goodness. I could just kick that @$$ hat in the nuts!!! What a moron. We rescued an American bulldog who often is mistaken for a pit. She is the sweetest babygirl doggy ever. My sis has owned a bluenose pit for almost 12 yrs. also the most sweetest reliable ever. Dumb ppl.
