Constant cramps

I am 18 weeks pregnant and have experienced period-like cramps for my entire pregnancy.  It is just short of constant and happens every day.  Is anyone else experiencing this?  I understand that everyone is different but no other mother says they had this when they were pregnant.

Re: Constant cramps

  • im a ftm & I went to the er to get checked last night. I had constant cramping for 2 days really bad! Had an ultrasound & ran some tests. Everything was fine except I have a uti. They basically said it's just everything stretching out and gave me pain meds. But since yours is throughout your whole pregnancy you should def bring it up to your doctor.

I have pretty constant cramping too. The first time I went and got checked she could see Braxton Hicks contractions on the us. A couple weeks after that I was diagnosed with placenta previa so they think that is the cause of my cramps.

  • I am not having cramping so much as a constant pain from my belly button to my pubic bone.  It also hurts in my lower back.  It comes and goes in spurts, but when it happens it is relentless and nothing I do makes it feel better.  I figure it's 'growing pains' but I am definitely going to ask about it at my next appointment.

  • I haven't had them every single day, but I've had them pretty steady through out and last time as well.  They are usually a very mild ache, like period cramps.  I'll be 18 weeks on Thursday and still get them most days.  I might get a weeks relief, and then they're back.

Are you drinking enough water?  Are you on your feet a lot?  It is likely just stretching and growing, but sometimes if you're not drinking enough it can make them worse.

  • I had cramps almost everyday last week. I went to my prenatal appointment on Thursday and I was told I need to drink more water. She said the cramps were probably because I haven't been drinking enough of it.

  • Yah I have that. It's not constant enough to worry if it is Braxton hicks for me, but it's annoying lol.
  • I am definitely drinking plenty of water...no doubt about that.  I appreciate all of the info.  I will talk with my dr again tomorrow to be sure everything is ok.

  • I have had cramping and bleeding since 13 weeks.  I had BH when pregnant with LO#1, but this cramping is nothing like that. It sucks and just makes me anxious all the time. I'm sorry you are having to deal with it.
