SO, its Friday night, and Im staying in, so lets have some fun.... what is something weird about you? A habit, a tic, a mannerism, a preference.. lets hear it!
Haha, I have to flap my finger tips to the palms of my hands when going up any flight of stairs.... but in general I am weird. Also, I cant stand the sound of people eating popcorn.
I have an insanely ridiculous, totally unjustified fear of burning my house down. Before I go to bed I HAVE to touch all the burners on the stove to make sure they're off. It's not enough to see the stove knob in the off position, I have to touch it and make sure it's cold otherwise I don't believe it. Same thing with outlets. If I use a curling iron for example, I unplug it when I'm done then I HAVE to touch the outlet to make sure nothing is plugged in. I can plainly see there is nothing plugged in, but if I don't touch it, I don't believe it. Totally crazy I know. I've tried so hard to break myself of this but I just can't. I've even gotten out of bed in the middle of the night to check the burners before. Can we say OCD? Yeah, I'm insane.
I love love love sharks. Shark week is like Christmas to me, and anytime I see a shark on TV, I'm glued to it. But, I am also out of mind terrified of them. I set foot in the ocean for the first time in my life on my honeymoon, and that was only because they were man made beaches so they looked more like lakes. Nothing terrifies me more than the idea of standing in shoulder deep water in the ocean (too high to run out of the water) and wonder what's swimming below.
As it was, we only lasted in the ocean for about 10 minutes. I was facing the open water looking at MH and suddenly my eyes got huge. He asked what it was and I said something surfaced (could have been a tiny fish, no idea) and we both decided to pack it in for the pool. My insane fear has rubbed off on him. BUT, even in a pool if I were by myself, I could still freak myself out.

I don't like my food to touch any other food on my plate. Also, I do not eat beef. I eat other meats, just not beef. Oh and I (still) get homesick extremely easily.
I berate inanimate objects when they're stupid. I'm too sarcastic for my own good. I also hate having my food touch on my plate. I used to be pretty addicted to World of Warcraft, now just play casually. And I love driving. One of my best friends lives 7 hours from me and I regularly drive to her house, pick her up, and drive her back to stay at my house to hang with our other friends (my house is kindof a midway point). Then do the same day trip to bring her home. If I could be a trucker right now, I would. Probably will when kids are grown.
I don't like anything covering my face (nose & mouth to be specific). Hands, scarves, blankets, while cuddling if I can't breathe fresh air, facials....forget it! The exception to this is swimming. I love the water! However, this same logic does not apply to washing my face in the shower. I seriously pump myself up and count to 3 before sticking my face in the shower water. It's all about breathing unrestricted. We all have our quirks I guess!
If I am eating white mint chocolate chip ice cream, I must mix it up into a creamy texture (unless it's in a cone). Any other ice cream flavor is fine like normal.
I'm sure there's more, but I guess food is on my mind at the moment....
I am TERRIFIED of the dark. Like, seriously terrified. As a child, even with a night light, I used to tuck the blanket around my body and over my head and leave only a tiny hole so I could breathe. I wouldn't even move, I just stayed bundled up against the wall.
I still go to sleep with the light or tv on unless DH is holding my hand. When I have to leave the house before sunrise I literally run from the house to the car so nothing gets me.
I use my mouse backwards. So when I more Tito the rightist goes to the left on the screen and up is down. I don't know when I started doing it or why. I cannot use the mouse the normal wayno matter how hard I try.
When I eat, if I chew something on my left side, I have to then chew something on my right side. Basically, I have to eat things in even numbers or I feel like the flavor is uneven in my mouth...
I can't stand open doors and open drawers. They drive me crazy. When I'm at some one's house and they have open cabinets, I get insanely fidgety because I'm too scared to get up and close them in fear of being rude.
I can't stand people touching my nose. I have punched people for purposely trying to irritate this way. I have slight panic attacks when driving between two semi trucks.
I wake up constantly through the night to make sure my son is still breathing, even at two years. And I HATE HATE HATE being touched by other people. We went to a concert last week and I had to stand way off to the side because kept bumping into me. I don't even like hugs from my family (FI and DS excluded).

Basically, I'm a huge chicken.
Me too! I have to turn off the light switch and run into bed. This makes DH very upset because he's always sleeping before I am and when I get into bed it's like a bomb just dropped down next to him!
Also, for some weird reason, I have an automatic anger reaction when people sneeze more than three times in a row. I don't know why. I know they can't control it but it just pisses me off.
When I eat, if I chew something on my left side, I have to then chew something on my right side. Basically, I have to eat things in even numbers or I feel like the flavor is uneven in my mouth...
Same here. Like if I'm having M&Ms or something, I need to eat an even number. Except I chew on the right first, then the left.
I sort and eat candy by color. First I sort them out, then eat excess candies so there are even numbers and then I decide how I will attack the rest. This even goes for m&ms that don't have different tastes for different colors.
There are many other things, but that is the one that gets a lot of attention from my coworkers.
March 2014 February Siggy Challenge: Third Trimester Feelings
Oh I forgot. I hate being splashed or squirted with a squirt gun. I mean I break into a rage.
I am also super chicken. If I hear a noise at night I freak out. I also am kinda afraid of the dark. Like pp I must turn the light off and jump in the bed so nothing/nobody can grab me from under the bed.
I "store" food in my check when I'm eating and eat it later ( like 30 min to an hour).
I also " eat " the sides of my checks at times if nothing's there, full on bleeding and all.
I pick my toe nails off- yes the whole thing. I've tried going to a podiatrist to get them cut a certain way to where I wouldn't pick - it wasn't successful
I have to check the back of my SUV before getting in to make sure no one is there whose going to kill me ( literally happened to a girl I went to school with)
I am freakishly fearful of birds!!! All of them! When I was on vacation with my family 2 winters ago, we ate our lunch by a pond that had ducks swimming on it. I screamed, jumped sky high, and then completely froze when I noticed that while my back was turned, a duck walked under my table and was watching me eat...begging like my dogs do at home. I couldn't finish eating until we got up and left. My heart was racing. Pretty pathetic lol
Edit: I also really, really hate when people touch my nose (I.e. playing the "got your nose" game when my stepdaughter was smaller. She knows not to touch the nose now lol)
Woow.. Umm reading everyone's comments makes me feel pretty normal.. Lol jk guys!
Gotta admit, some are pretty weird, but I think weirdest one I have, is having make sure I lock our house door and car doors very time we leave the house or stop somewhere.. Can't stand the thought of leaving them unlocked by accident.. Drives me nuts!
I have to eat in rotation, with both candy and with meals...I need to always have an equal number of bites left on my plate...and I eat in circular formation in the order of taste preference, so I always finish with my favorite taste (or if it's candy, end with my favorite color). I will constantly be adjusting my bite sizes through out dinner to make sure it stays even.
I will only eat with the small fork or small spoon.
I hate luxury towels, prefer the feel and plushness (or lack there of) of the cheapest ones you can find.
I hate the sound of reaching into a chip bag...bowls are a requirement for my husband and kids.
I don't like the feeling of cats rubbing up against my bare legs, nor can I stand the feeling of them kneeding. Both give me the eeby jeebys.
When I'm typing, I will say the sentence out loud, but apparently I will repeat words or phrases in the sentence. I don't ever notice that I'm repeating, but my husband points it out all the time...teases that it's a glitch in my brain.
My husband and I play card games during dinner every night. It's mostly because I cannot stand the sound of people eating. (To the point that I would eat dinner alone in a seperate room as a child to avoid hearing my family - even my own eating noises will bother me). Cards seem to have done the trick to distract me so I can eat dinner with my own kids & husband.
I overcook meat sometimes, just because I am scared to death of eating it and then getting sick... I now have a digital food thermometer so I can temp it to make sure it is at or above the suggested temp... it's all for food safety. I have had food poisoning 3 times. It super sucks!
When I park my SUV I always rock back and forth in my seat to make sure my breaks are holding... I have a manual and I am so scared my parking break isn't holding good. I have a huge fear of my SUV rolling back into traffic while I am at home. Where I park is on a little bit of an incline... and if it were to roll back while in park, it would roll straight out into a busy road.
I can't stand to talk to people while they are wearing sunglasses..I just really need to be able to see their eyes, or it makes me feel super uncomfortable.
95% of the time when I leave, I always have to run back inside to get my phone.. DH lately has been asking "Do you have your phone?". I swear you would think after a couple times of forgetting it, I would remember it.
"Dear Lord, I would have loved to
have held my babies on my lap and tell them
about You, but since I didn't get the chance,
would You please hold them on Your lap
and tell them about me?

My dad used to do the burner thing before we left the house to go anywhere. He'd say off off off after each one.
I sort and eat candy by color. First I sort them out, then eat excess candies so there are even numbers and then I decide how I will attack the rest. This even goes for m&ms that don't have different tastes for different colors.
There are many other things, but that is the one that gets a lot of attention from my coworkers.
Since I was a child, I like to eat lemon juice on almost everything.
Um, that's not weird at all. I do it too.
So, I stop breathing if someone touches my nose. My DD used to put her finger on it to see how long I could last til i started gasping for air. Not.funny.
I hate the taste of toothpaste. It makes me sick. I've tried the fruit flavoured ones and they don't make me feel like I just brushed, they make me feel like I just ate. I use so little toothpaste that a tube can last me a year.
I'm sure I'll think of a ton more but here's a few...
1) I'm a nail biter. Not just any ol' nail biter though, my nails are ALWAYS bitten down to the quick. And I've done this for as long as I can remember. My mom video taped me at age 5 during a ballet class, and every chance I got, I was biting my nails. I HATE that I have this habit and I've tried to stop so many times but I just can't. I've finally just accepted the fact that I'm never going to stop.
2) I HATE scary movies and when I watch them, I ALWAYS cry. My reaction to fear is crying uncontrollably. It's so embarrassing.
3) Like @Parryt, I also can't stand when people touch my bones. My shin bone is the very worse.
4) I hate holograms, especially when they have a texture to them. In school, our agenda books had a hologram on the front cover and people would always run their nail across it and it'd make that awful noise (know what I'm talking about?) Ugh, drives me insane.
I eat one the at a time during meals, usually clockwise, and nothing can be touching. I love those plates with divider things, you know like a toddler.
I eat candy (skittles, m&m's etc) in order of favorite color.
I HATE fish!!! I don't like going in lakes, rivers or oceans because I'm afraid they'll touch me!
I also cry and scream like a baby with bugs. Too many eyes and legs.
As another said, I'm also a nail biter. I hate this habit, but can not stop!
nschultheis - I have a weird oragne food thing too, but it's a coincidence. I don't like orange colored food, except for citrus (and a few other exceptions!). I don't like sweet potatoes or butternut squash. I dont like yellow peaches but love white ones. I don't like cantaloupe but love honeydew. I also hate fish roe. And carrots - YUCK! But I love oranges etc.

I constantly clean my nails. It's a habit I picked up from working in healthcare, but I do it to excess.
