Monkey Joes

Anyone heard of this place or been to one? We have one close and I'm thinking about taking ds but I'm not sure if he's too young still. He's walking so good now and I think he's like climbing and exploring their stuff.

It's an inflatable play place. They have a separate room for 3 and unders too. And trey claim to sanatize well with some sanatation thing. It's only $5.99 for under 2's but I still just wanted some thoughts.

Re: Monkey Joes

  • I've never been to a Monkey Joe's. But we have a lot of those types of places around here.
I think it's fine to take him. I'm sure he'd love it. The problem is other kids and even 2&3 year olds can be rough in those things. I've taken V to one because S had a party at one. She loved it. But it did get a little stressful trying to protect her. The mama bear definitely comes out in place like that. Haha!
I would try to go during a non busy time if you can.
You can always just try it and if you don't like wait until he's older to go back. No harm in that.

  • I have been to Monkey Joes in the past, but not with ds. We actually go to a gym on Wednesday and it is like a Monkey Joes, he can run around and climb if he wants. Some of the things he can't do because he is still too little, but he enjoys walking and running.

  • I took the kids to Monkey Joe's near us this summer and my older kids really liked it. However, we were told there was a separate area for the littler kids (under 3) but there was really only one little bounce house for them to play in and it was constantly being invaded by older siblings of the toddlers. I chased a few out after it got ridiculous, but if I only had Carson, I wouldn't spend the money on it.

  • DS and I belong to a play group and we take the toddlers to those type of play places every now and then.

We always go pretty early in the morning after breakfast because otherwise they're way crowded and crazy.
  • Hey @AmySmolos have you checked to see if  they have an under three only time of the day? I can't remember if it was there or at SkyZone when they offered it a couple of times per week.

  • @AmySmolos  I have been to the Monkey Joe's that you are talking about (I'm assuming, since you live right by me!).  I wouldn't go out of my way to go at this age, honestly.

I went with a friend because we got a Groupon-type deal for dirt cheap.  We went once when DS had just turned 2 (her son was 20 months) and again when DS was 28 months (and her son had just turned 2).  The second time was better, but it still took a lot of coaxing and the boys didn't just go crazy over it.  They couldn't get into the bouncy things by themselves, and they can't see you from inside most of them, so they get nervous, etc.

We went on a weekday morning (like a Wednesday) and it wasn't very busy - maybe a couple other people.  IMO, age 3-4 would be much better.

  • I should add to my last response that it would probably be more fun if/since you don't have another baby!  I had DD, who was almost 6 months the first time we went & almost 10 mos the second, so I had to be holding/carrying her and I couldn't be climbing in the equipment with DS.  Since you could climb in there too, you could probably make it more fun :).
