baby on a boat?

So my husband is dying to take Paige with us fishing. We have a bass boat and I feel like she is waaay to young to be going out?
I am researching and apparently there are life jackets for babies as little as 8 pounds. Has anyone taken their babies out this young? Maybe I am just being over protective?

Note- We dont go out for long, usually just from sun up till around 9 or 10 am.

Yes. We took him on a boat this summer. He did not mind his life jacket at all, although we just went for a little ride. I don't know how he'd do with it on for more than 30 minutes. We got a Stearns life jacket from Walmart rated for 8-30 lbs. LO loved being in the boat and all the fresh air!

We took DD out this summer on my FILs boat. She loved it. We had a life jacket from DS that we used for her. ETA typo

DD3 has been out on a boat starting around 4 months. We have a couple infant life jackets.

I'd be ok with it, just keep the mindset that it's very likely that you will have to head in early. Then you'll be pleasantly surprised when you don't have to.

We boated all summer with DD. We did bring a sun blanket with sun protection for shade (we also have a Bimini top) and a small fan for heat (we are in GA). She did great on the boat. She fell asleep usually to and from the marina and took great naps out on the lake.
