I will back you up on this (maybe not 100%) but I absolutely believe there are cures for cancer and other diseases available. Pharmaceuticals are big $$$ businesses and unfortunately money plays a huge role in politics. Think about how long we've had the technology to build electric cars but the oil industry would then suffer. Same thing

You need to pay some serious consideration to what you're saying before you come out with things like that. I've lost 3 members of my family to cancer this year (including my mother) and i assure you that everything was done to save their lives. Do you want to tell my child that they have no grandmothers because someone is hiding the cure for cancer? I'm sure my husband will appreciate that sentiment when he's thinking about losing his mother to lung cancer when he was 17. What an insensitive and poorly researched thing to say.

do you realise how complicated cancer is? yes, they're getting closer to finding a cure every day. however, it's really implausible that a cure for cancer would be hidden by the US government. you do know that there is a world outside America right? the USA doesn't have the monopoly on world healthcare. in the UK, we're lucky enough to have universal healthcare for everyone who needs it, free of charge (yes, even homeless people can walk in and get treated). just because the healthcare system in the US is morally backwards, doesn't mean its the same everywhere else.

But I wasn't saying it's a GOOD THING. Don't get me wrong. I HATE IT to think that I have to watch loved ones and family friends suffer through cancer while I KNOW there has got to be SOMETHING out there ... something somebody isn't telling us about. Unfortunately it is - my MIL has a very rare gastro problem and has only found one med that works - the only problem is that it's banned here in the US, but readily available OTC in many other countries.

Do you know the science behind cancer? Curing cancer is as difficult as curing the common cold. There are numerous different kinds and so there is not "one size fits all" for cancer treatments. Skin cancer is different from Breast cancer is different from pancreatic cancer.

I highly doubt the US government is withholding a cure for cancer because of the pharmaceutical lobby.

This is why i care about what has been said about hiding the cure for cancer. Do you honestly think that if one country found it, the US would swoop in and keep it for themselves?! And yes, i'm glad i don't live in the US because i know that if i ever get hit by a car, i can go to my nearest hospital and get treated for free with no insurance, no questions asked. it baffles me that people think "Obamacare" is a bad thing and that many people in the US see healthcare as a privilege and not a right.

You need to pay some serious consideration to what you're saying before you come out with things like that. I've lost 3 members of my family to cancer this year (including my mother) and i assure you that everything was done to save their lives. Do you want to tell my child that they have no grandmothers because someone is hiding the cure for cancer? I'm sure my husband will appreciate that sentiment when he's thinking about losing his mother to lung cancer when he was 17. What an insensitive and poorly researched thing to say.

Why are your panties in a wad over this? You don't even live in the US where we have a completely different medical system and pharmaceuticals that are available to us. I'm very sorry about the losses your family has had, but this is the system over here - not where you live.

I'm not sure why her living outside of the US makes her opinion invalid. Yeah, different health care, etc. But I'm pretty sure that if one country found a cure for cancer, it would have some ramifications for people living in other countries too. This stuff doesn't happen in a bubble.

This is why i care about what has been said about hiding the cure for cancer. Do you honestly think that if one country found it, the US would swoop in and keep it for themselves?! Are you honestly that self-absorbed as a nation that you think the US has the final say on the health of every nation in the world?

And yes, i'm glad i don't live in the US because i know that if i ever get hit by a car, i can go to my nearest hospital and get treated for free with no insurance, no questions asked. it baffles me that people think "Obamacare" is a bad thing and that many people in the US see healthcare as a privilege and not a right.

Just put on your tinfoil hat and enjoy the crazy conspiracy theories...

I work in Big Pharma. I don't know if you follow the news or the stock market, but it's not such a rosy picture for us these days (https://www.fiercebiotech.com/special-reports/top-10-pharma-layoffs-2012). If we did somehow have the magical cure for the single disease(?!) known as cancer, don't you think we would have -- I don't know -- wanted to make some money off of it?!
