I sometimes feel like breastfeeding is overrated and can be a "trend" just like everything else. Look how many years it has been in and out and how many people are just fine! I hate seeing women who can't make breastfeeding work beat themselves up over it. And when people choose not to breastfeed are judged by others! Or people that do breastfeed act like they are better than those who dont or cant. I get "breast is best" but I get sick of hearing about it... Just feed your baby however you choose and don't worry about what other moms are doing because its none of your business.

Just like stupidity is becoming a trend on this board
Skinny sagging jeans on guys ugh gross!!! Sagging jeans period I n the words of my six year old that's a stupid style.
Republicans and democracts both suck no one should be able to leave until they do their job. I'm a federal worker I can't leave until my job is done.
Tattoos on the neck gross sorry I have them but come on now Chris Brown and Little Wayne ugh not feeling it.
Last but not lease...... OJ Simpson Guilty Kasey Anthony Guilty
I'm confused. You think tattoos on the neck are gross yet you have them?
Also, do you know how the political system works? If so, there's no way you can make a generalize statement such as "republicans and democrats both suck" or so to speak.

It's a trend! All the other mammals are just not in style I guess.

This "breast feeding is a trend" statement is just as stupid as "formula equals coke or Pepsi" or whatever the fuck that BSC bitch was saying. How in the fuck is something natural a trend? I don't breast feed and I can admit that.
Ugh! So not what I meant with the word "trend"....Sorry. I know that made me seem idiotic. I swear I'm not... I guess it was for LACK of a better word. I am just saying that I think that generalization is unfair to mothers who simply can’t breastfeed. It wasn’t that long ago that breastfeeding was simply "unfashionable."...don't know if that is a better word? Somehow that generation of bottle fed babies managed to survive. There are plenty of bottle fed babies out there who have become healthy, productive and intelligent members of society! Life is about a lot more than how you were fed as a baby and sometimes I think its unfair for women to have to feel so down on themselves because it didn't work out or if a woman chooses not to breastfeed, it shouldn't matter.
In the spirit of fall, I LOOOOOVE candy corn and don't know how people can't. I could eat a whole bag in a day if allowed - not without feeling guilty about all the sugar- but happily until the bag was empty

Wow second week that we need to go over the definition of a trend.
Here is a history lesson: Formula was invented about 50 years agos, so for the 5550 years prior to that, babies were breastfed b.c there was no other choice. Yes, I'm sure some cultures supplemented with other mammals milk and many others had wet nurses. It is a good thing that we have formula because many mothers and babies need it, but the reason breastfeeding fell out of style a generation or two ago was because the formula companies pushed it just like the pharmaceutical companies do now.
I think your point was that everyone can make the choice of how to feed their child and they should be able to do so judgement free.
My UO: I hate when people try to make a point but bury it in so much shit it becomes unrecognizable.
I don't like commercials where food eats other food, it xm creeps me out. Example: cinnamon toast crunch
OMG I have this exact same hatred! I get pissed at any commercial with sentient food that knows it will get eaten. I hate the new M&M commercials with the M&M that gets drug off by the woman and then you hear him screaming from the car. Are you KIDDING me? That's comedy?

So how do you two feel about all the pop tart commercials where the tarts are lured to their deaths? Like the one where they get in the "tanning bed" ...
My UO is that I do not think breast milk is the magical cure all. I find it obnoxious when someone is asking for help and the same people keep suggesting breast milk. Ex: "I have shingles, what should I do?" "Just rub some breast milk on it and it will clear up by morning!!!"

It clears up a lot though. I don't think it will fix everything, but it does help cure a lot.

Don't know how much of a UO it will be here but it's a big one in our whole family and FI's family....
I would rather my daughter play basketball, volleyball, football, softball, etc instead of dance or cheerleading. Of course I will support her if that's what she wants to do, but I get told she's going to be too "boyish" if I don't get her into cheer/dance.
This. I would rather my little guy be into chess or science instead of sports. My family actually told me he has to play hockey (we are Canadian). If he doesn't know how to ice skate or swim he is not Canadian. I can't so either of those things well and I'm pretty sure my passport still says Canada.

A trend? *facepalm*
This. I know I've already ranted about people claiming foods to be trends. I actually hate the word trend. "I not going to recycle because it's so trendy now, everyone does it". That's not a fucking trend, it's called human evolution. Society changes how they do things as we learn. Get over it.
Edit: sorry I didn't even finish reading the other posts I just got upset by the word. My step mother uses it every other post on Facebook so it gets me boiling. ☺️
I know they work really well for most babies, but I can't stand the white noise apps. I got through 2 minutes of the Baby Colic song before I was about to go insane. Kudos to anyone who can stand it more than 5 minutes.

I hate Grand Theft Auto 5 (reg game and online). It has stolen my husband from me and LO. It seems to be the only thing that helps lower his stress level from work, though, so I'm afraid to say anything for fear of him having some kind of psychotic break.
We have a baby and H decides to get into FIFA. He plays a little GTA 5 but right now he is all about managing his team. Ugh, he got mad at me this morning for trying to have a conversation with him when he only had 15 minutes to get out the door. Don't play FIFA in the mornings if it is going to make you late, or play with your daughter instead!

It sounds a LOT better than a screaming baby seriously my life saver.
Why are so many people hung up on gay marriage!? Get over it....it doesn't affect you so why all the bitching and moaning about same sex marriages?
Maybe (hopefully) this isn't an OU on here, but both my and DH's families are so obsessed with it (with the exception of my mom and sister). I told mil I loved watching Ellen and her response, "you know she's gay right?" IDGAF! Then she goes on to say she doesn't know why all the tv shows have gay people in them..."it's like they are everywhere". Yep, kinda like real life, huh?
And for those who take the religious side...all of the above was written by a Christian.
I don't like commercials where food eats other food, it xm creeps me out. Example: cinnamon toast crunch

To add to the commercials, I hate how sexually suggestive a lot of them are, the new Trojan one plays in the morning . The mms are very guilty of this
I dont understand why everyone is pro gay marriage and yet anti polygamy is it because it involves religion? I mean im into one man and one woman myself but how can so many people say'it doesnt effect you' 'its not changng your marriage' etc but then when the same holds true for polygamists but everyones against it. Weird. This all stems from watching Sister Wives and its sad that their family is under attack for doing something that doesnt harm anyone. ETA: I not knocking gay marriage btw, and I dont agree with forced or under age marriage.
Interesting argument, I never thought about it but I'll have to agree... to an extent. Personally and religiously, I don't care who get married or to how many people because like I said, it doesn't affect me. Polygamy would raise financial questions I would think (gov taxes/healthcare options). I'm not saying it should be illegal because of financial reasons, but new laws or regulations may need to be put in place to support those types of marriages.
I don't think the pumpkin spice latte from Starbucks is that great. It's good, but not great. The whole pumpkin flavored everything has gone crazy. I'll stick to the basics like pie and bread.

Sexism or any type of gender identity topics shouldn't be taught in schools. I believe this particular conversation/lessons should be left up to the parent(s) to have with their child(ren).

On a moral standpoint it is quite the double standard.
My reasons against polygamy would be how they tax and effect our institutions. One example is Healthcare - is one man going to have 4 wives and 20 kids under his family policy - what will this do to my rates? Now I know the Duggars for example are doing this already and legally, but they are few and far between. Legalizing polygamy could lead to this being much more common.
Also, if it was legalized, would it just be for a man to have multiple wives or can a woman have multiple husbands. Can those within the marriage have additional spouses created a whole web of a family?
Gay marriage is pretty straight forward, it is still two adults and their children. Polygamy opens the door to so many unknowns.
I think dunkin donuts is disgusting. Yeah, that's all I've got today. Momma's tired

How do you mean? Sex Ed, anatomy, birth control or do you mean gender roles? I guess the boys vs. girls thread has me confused.
If you mean sex Ed than I disagree to a point, many parents don't teach this or wait to long and there are girls and boys who are uneducated like being able to get preg while on period and such. You can always opt your kid out of it, from what I remember they give advanced notice. I'm not up to date on the protocol so forgive me if I'm wrong.
My SIL just had the "talk" with her 10 year old cuz she looked on his iPod (i think this is way young for one btw) and saw he had searched 10 year old naked and had visited porn hub as a result. This happened while I was oh so it explains why he was a little awkward around me all of a sudden
If they don't get it at school or from you they will get it from friends and media. I plan to approach the subject biologically little by little and at an early age so they have a general understanding before they hear it from others.

My UO has nothing to do with the act of sex. Gender identity and sexism is an entirely different topic. With all the different belief systems out there I would rather my son learn this from his parents.

Gay marriage is pretty straight forward, it is still two adults and their children. Polygamy opens the door to so many unknowns.
Polygamy would be really hard to regulate. Henderson, you make a really valid point with healthcare rates but, one thing that I have always wondered about Sister Wives is, in the eyes of the law, those women are single women with mulitple children so, do they qualify for Medicaid, WIC, etc (gov assistance).
I have always wondered if they receive this.
For a long time I have wondered how society can justify saying no to one man who WANTS to have multiple wives and children and take care of them but cannot legally do so but there are men out there who have multiple kids with multiple women and don't take care of them and this is "ok". OK meaning not illegal.

That is what makes it hard to argue against and make a valid point for, marriage doesn't stop people from having multiple partners, lots of kids and being a burden on the system. Somebodysmomma, job well done on making us think!
Polygamy doesn't bother me a bit as long as it is between all CONSENTING adults. The ones marry off children and women against their will should not be allowed.
I think any adult human who wants to marry any other willing adult human should be free to do so.
