My UO (of the moment, I have a ton of them).... are people who write a "subject" line to their post that 1. gives NO CLUE about the actual SUBJECT and/or 2. is all "hype"

I "scan" the majority of topics these days, because I have lost all patience with the repetitive/stupid ones.. I have one standard response to most of them (in my head), and I'm trying to practice being "nicer" In Fake Internet Life (IFIL) -- not to be confused with my In Real Life (IRL) disposition - where I have no desire to change

For example:

Subject: OMG Text: I drank a half a teaspoon of alcohol two weeks ago! Did I deform my baby???? MY response: Shut the F*ck up!

Subject: CAN NOT BELIEVE IT!!! Text: I just felt the baby move at 7 weeks!!! MY Response: I don't believe it either.. Now...Shut the F*ck up!

Subject: HORRID EXPERIENCE!! Text: I can't poop! My mother's brother's uncle's BFF said I should drink 5 ounces of vegetable oil.. do you think it's okay? My Response: Ask your OB! Now Shut the F*ck up!

Subject: Is this true? Text: That we can't drink anything but sheep spit for 9 months or we will put our baby in danger?? My response: YES! IT'S TRUE. You must ONLY drink Sheep Spit! Now Shut the F*ck up!

See the pattern?

My UO this week is that i really don't need to see another "no symptoms" post. 90% of them are written by people who are less than 6 weeks pregnant. surprise! you don't automatically get morning sickness and sore boobs on the days of your missed period. read the other 15 posts and you'll get the message.

Also, I don't get the Benedict Cumberbatch thing either. Then again I'm a British woman living in London, so guys like that are 10 a penny around here. My DH is like a hipster Hugh Grant. I find an American accent incredibly sexy on a man.

ETA: and just FTR, I've been around the boards a long long time (6+ years. I'm a loser, okay?!) and always heard it was Not Baby Related. Still doesn't change my opinion though.

I just think it's funny when someone is essentially saying "not baby related: who watched Grey's this week?" When writing "who watched Grey's this week?" is clearly not about babies. It's not like I was going to open that post and say "OMG this isn't about babies?!"

So, a post about a chick on 1st tri who has negative pee, blood, AND U/S results, but STILL thinks she's pregnant (becuase she has "symptoms").. reminded me of ANOTHER UO:

I happen to think that quite a few of these "pregnancy symptoms" being posted about are actually either:

1. All in your head -- or being exaggerated

and/or

2. Are just "normal" body feelings

I mean, really... every.single.little twinge/reaction/body movement is NOT just because you are pregnant!!! And most of them don't mean anything!

When I am NOT pregnant, I still sometimes feel:

constipation

diahrea

headaches

cramps

bloating

fatigue

hunger

cravings

and I don't run around looking for sympathy/insight/confirmation because of it!

jeez... with some of these posts, you would think these women have lived their entire lives without a single discomfort and then BAM!!! the second they become pregnant, they have a whole new world of experience!

I GET that some are VERY REAL.. but I also think many pregnant women are literally obsessing about every single TWINGE and then equate that twinge to pregnancy!!

EX: I have horrible heartburn today!! ... it MUST be because I'm pregnant!!

NO! you crazy lady!! It's becuase you just ate an entire bag of doritios covered in mayo with a side of key lime pie and washed it down with a 1/2 gallon of orange juice!!! (and we know that, because you posted about that insanity)!

And you did that NOT because you had a craving you refused to control but becuse the "BABY" made you do it!

My UO: I don't think the government and our health care system actually looks out for our health.

I've never gotten the flu shot, and won't, even though I'm pregnant. My mother is going through chemo, then surgery, then radiation for breast cancer, and I PROMISE YOU that a cure has been found, and it's been hushed up ... because too many people and companies make money off of chemo, cancer medications, and radiation. There is no way you can convice me that the Susan G Coleman foundation hasn't come up with SOMETHING by now. I don't think half the crap they say is bad for you is actually bad for you, especially in moderation. I think we, as Americans, rely too much on medicines and quick fixes, and our govenment doesn't mind. Thousands of companies make money off of pharmacueticals that are unneccessary. We invent different diseases and syndromes so that everybody is "battleing" something, and the REAL diseases, the REAL syndromes, the REAL people who need good health care don't get it.

I could go on ....
