cough remedies?

Anything?  Poor little guy was up coughing all night.  Seems in pretty good spirits, a little clingy/whiny.  No fever, eating/drinking good, just cough cough cough as soon as he lays down :(

Re: cough remedies?

  • A humidifier and sleeping elevated are helpful. Also that eucalyptus rub on the feet is good to help keep airways open. Poor guy! I bet it's post nasal drip if it happens when he lays down.

Then and now. How did my boy get so big?

  • I agree with the humidifier and elevating the mattress.  If it is post nasal drip, we use Benadryl at night to dry DS up.

  • I also use a humidifier, also if lo can't breathe through his nose I sleep with him on the couch so he's sitting up.

  • If it gets really bad, steam up the shower and sit in the bathroom with him for a good 10 minutes, then go outside or stick his head in the freezer to kind of shock his airways and open them back up more.

  • Thanks guys!  I think it is definitley some post nasal drip;  I left for work before he got up, but DH said he barely coughed at all when he was up playing.  I'll try the humidifier tonight and maybe some vicks.
