Done nursing

I'm going to be EPing again. Alexis is a lazy eater and just won't nurse. She only transfer about an oz in a hour. I knew we were headed down this path but I was hoping she'd be able to nurse longer than Lucas did (13 weeks). The LC can't figure out why she's not transferring milk and rather than us both getting frustrated she said its time. She did say to comfort nurse at bed time after a bottle, but nursing can't he her main source of food. Boobies 0 lazy eaters 2. Womp womp

  • You're not alone :) it's great you were able to go this long!
    Married DH <3 : 7/7/12; 3 fur babies (2 dogs and 1 cat)

  • I'm with you!! DS is also lazy and only transferred 1/2oz in 40 minutes.

I'm still trying to encourage the breast in hopes that it'll click. I posted my story on the breastfeeding board and some ladies talked about having success in returning to EBF several weeks and even months after birth. So... I know there's at least a small ray of hope.

  • @v&g101808 the other day she wanted to comfort nurse and I could hear her gulping. I was like dude why can't you do this all the time. I'm not really upset because it is her not me. I'm a freaking cow. So that's helping me cope more. With my history, it's nice knowing this isn't my fault. I know blah blah blah Aidan wasn't my fault either blah. Lol

  • You did what you could. She'll still be getting bm (which I assume is important to you), so that's all that matters!

  • Been there done that. I'm a volunteer at my hospital and work frequently with all of the LC's. No one can figure out why she can't transfer milk and there is zero tie. She has a great latch, sucks but doesn't transfer.

I'm about to transfer too I've seen 3 diff consultants and he's just so hungry I give him a bottle anyways. It sucks but I'm almost relived that we both won't be so stressed about it.

This is me, too. Pumping has improved our quality of life quite a bit. Every now and again we will nurse because I can, and then that's it. No pressure, just whatever works best.

  • I recently put my experience down in words regarding how I became an exclusive pumper. I hope this helps anyone struggling with the same emotions.

It's a hard decision to make but it's what we have to do sometimes. Big internet stranger hug @magdalina.h!
