Lactose Overload...

Have any mommas here had LOs that were diagnosed with Lactose Overload? Just read a very interesting article about it and I think it fits my son to a T! I have been starting to try to block feed after a couple green poops, and it falls right in line with this. Just wanted to get other experiences. TIA!

Re: Lactose Overload...

  • Interesting, after a post on here earlier in tthe week about green poop someone suggested to block feed since then he has been different, his poop is now yellow screams less and eats less often. Maybe we had this

  • That's what Colief is for (I thought). It's a lactase enzyme to help break down the lactose.

Block feeding wouldn't help me bc I'm back to work so he gets pumped milk. But I did think he has those symptoms so that's why I started Colief. It's helped us.
  • I just started block feeding a day or so ago so still looking for good results. I had thought LO might be lactose intolerant, but hes gaining GREAT and I thought it was interesting what the article said about Lact Intol babies missing calories. I was researching poop that smells like vinegar when i found that article.
  • Thanks for posting- this fits my baby. I think I messed up my supply by taking Fennugreek when I didn't have a low supply in the first place- just wanted to pump more for storage. The last week, LO has had green stools at night. I'll have to look into the block feeding.
  • Those of your who are block feeding, how long do you feed on one side before switching? I did block feeding about a month ago but didn't find it helped me much but I may not have stayed on the same side long enough.
