St.Joes or Presbyterian st.Lukes hospital for delivery ??

All, we are debating between the two hospitals that are downtown denver.... St. Joseph's or Presbyterian. Please let me know your picks / suggestions / experiences. I am confused. Thanks!!

    If you have a difficult pregnancy st. Luke's is the way to go.

    We're going to st joes, our friend works there and I've only heard good things about it.

    ONe thing I've heard about hospitals is they would shift you from room to room after you check in (like pre-delivery you would be in one and once they think you are ready they would wheel you into the labor room) or something. Do you know anything about it? Personally, once I check in I just want everything to be done in one room and check out..be done with it.

    Diffcult or not, i am not sure yet. We live in Parker but our Doc is in Downtown and hence having to choose between PBSL / St. Joes.

    Have you been there before? How was your experience?

    My mom works in the NICU at St. Joes and I know all the high risk and regular l&d nurses, go St. Joes! :)

    Wow, that's so cool ! I can't wait to check out these two places. And I am not sure what to weigh in and how to decide ( I mean based on what !?) ... All I know is I don't want to be wheeled or moved around from one room to other between labor and delivery. Just check in to a room wait till I have my baby and check out. Also, do you know if one is expensive than the other in terms of bills ( i do have my insurance but kinda concerned).

    I delivered my two girls at St. Joe's. I wasn't moved around...just in the birthing suite for labor and delivery, then into the Mother/Baby Unit afterwards.

    The only things I really didn't like about it is that I never saw my regular OB, and honestly don't even know the name of the doctor who 'caught' DD2, and they seemed kind of cold (doctors, not the nurses, they were great!). They also questioned my birth plan (I was induced but didn't want pain meds), and didn't really seem to know how to handle a natural birth.

    As for costs, my first was in the NICU for 4 days, and my cost was $300. My second, I was in and out in 24 hours and it cost us $2400...it's all dependent on your insurance.

    I am delivering at St. Lukes because that is where my doc delivers. My husband and I took a tour the other night. We loved L&D; the rooms were just remodeled a couple years ago and they are huge and comfortable. The postpartum ward is okay, but the rooms are small and could probably use an update. We are still thrilled to go with St. Lukes so I can have my amazing dr and, and their nicu is world renowned if we do need this. I hope this helps :)

    I just delivered at St. Joes two months ago, and went all natural the whole way. The nurses were very supportive of my birth plan, and encouraged me when I wanted to cave for the epidural. I had alot of back labor, so they let me stay on all fours on the floor with the birthing ball right up until it was time to push. And the aftercare nurses were great as well. I would most definitely go to St. Joe's again to deliver!
