Daycare Help

Hi Lovely ladies,

It has been about 6 weeks since I have been on the bump......we are officially relocated to New Hampshire and getting settled as much as we can in our temp housing, while we build a home.  I am settling in with my new job and its going well, however DD is having a terrible time with daycare drop off in the morning. She was at her previous daycare from 12 weeks old until this past August. I kept her home for 4 weeks while I transitioned to my new job and we relocated. I used to drop her off and she would wave and go play, now she screams and cries and it is breaking my heart.  We are on week 4 of this. I don't know what to do. They say she cries for 15-20 min and is fine then. Has anyone switched daycares and had this happen?

One more question, has anyone washed their Britax Marathon car seat cover?  DD puked on it and it smells terrible.

Also, where did my siggy pics go?

Re: Daycare Help

  • I'm watching this thread because we are going through the same thing in terms of relocation and DS being home with me until I get work. I'm nervous about the transition as well, when the time comes.

  • DS did this with one of his sitters for almost two months. It was awful. He's finally adjusted though. He reached for me this morning but he didn't cry so that was good. I would keep reassuring her and just keep with it. I hope she adjusts quickly.
  • I wish I could help. We're probably about to change daycares in a couple of weeks and I'm not looking forward to the transition. As long as LO wasn't miserable all day I wouldn't be too worried. She'll adjust. Good luck!
  • For your car seat question. We had a britax for DD1. You have to wash it when you don't need to use the seat for a day or so.
I put it in the bath tub with some soap and hand washed it. Try to only get the dirty part wet. The cover gets very heavy and holds a lot of water when washing it. Squeeze the excess water out and let it air dry. Or check the label, maybe it can go in the drier?
Hope that helps, that's how I used to do it.

  • No help on daycare, but wanted to say enjoy NH! I grew up in southern NH and loved it! As for washing car seat covers/straps/etc make sure you check the manual to see if it's ok to do that. Mine says water & cloth by hand only since it's fire resistant material you dont' want to ruin/mess with that.

  • I've washed our britax cover. I just stuck the whole cover in the washer with soap and bleach. We have the cloth cover one, not the fancy one!

We just went through this- Evs was with a sitter from 3 months-8 months, stayed home with a different sitter and her sisters over the summer, then started at a new in-home care center with loads of new kids. It took her two weeks to adjust. It was a crap two weeks.

Your DD is at an age where she recognizes who is (and isn't) there- she is just used to being with you and the other sitter. Since you are kind of in a state of transition (with the relocating) I am sure this is just adding a more stress on her. Try not to worry too much- she just needs a bit more time to adjust.
